Hillary is not making it to Oregon as a named system. The mountains will tear it up

I hope that brings some moisture to my dry ass corner of Idaho.

Well, I'm used to hurricanes being projected to hit where I live only for them to deviate when all is said and done. This is what it is, projections, it might change in a few days or hours and if it reaches Californian cold waters it's gonna turn into kind of a peaceful rain. Stay safe and alert anyways to next projections :giraffe:

Stay safe y'all. Never underestimate the power of a hurricane. Seriously.

the name Hilary has been on this specific Eastern Pacific naming list since the early 80s (1981), before Hilary Duff was born. They re-use the same names every six years unless a storm is so bad that the name gets retired (i.e. Katrina, Sandy, Ida, Ian). Since we now live in the modern age, names are associated with a lot of different personalities and characters. Hurricane Dora just prior to this was given Dora the Explorer jokes even by the National Hurricane Center during advisories and Dora also has been on this list since 1981. Francine is on the Atlantic 2024 list so I can imagine a bunch of Arthur or American Dad memes if we get a major storm with that name next year.

Even if Hilary hits as a Category 1 or tropical storm, its rains could be pretty devastating if it happens. Hurricane Fiona devastated Puerto Rico with flooding last year just as a Category 1 hurricane. Hurricane Harvey in 2017 caused the majority of its damage well inland due to flooding. Tropical Storm Allison in 2001 never hit hurricane strength and still devastated Texas and other areas with flooding.

"Multiple years worth of rain." :psyduck:

I hope they have the infrastructure to handle such an amount of rainfall.
