It charts when it moves more pure sales than the other albums that have the same songs. Were CDs released or something. Idk

But its weird. It certainly didnt sell much as the positions from the other 4 albums should pretty much add up to #16 or so anyway.

So I also dont get the "labels only care about money" people in here. He generated very little extra money with this it seems like to me

If the label chooses to have track sales and streams applied towards Greatest Hits certifications, then those track sales and streams are precluded from future inclusion in the original studio album. The RIAA and GR&F will require labels to confirm in writing that no track sales and streams are counted towards both a studio album and a Greatest Hits album

Katy Perry has ONE album in the Billboard 200. Teenage Dream at #127 so no, not comparable.

I don't think he released physicals for it, so I don't get it. It would only make sense to me for him to do a greatest hits release if he was releasing vinyl alongside it, like Abel did, but to just cannibalize four charting albums for a #16 position seems so dumb to me, idk.

His career trajectory is so bizarre like you really couldn’t stop him from dominating back in 2018/19. Idk what happened but the songs got so generic and the support tepid at best.

He has always made terrible music. The GP finally cleaned their ears

Why are you quoting me RIAA rules in a Billboard thread. I'm confused what you meant

he has 2 albums charting one is a GH clearly proving the Gp still likes him :rip:

I guess it depends on the artist. For someone like Post or Weeknd, they have a bunch of albums that would be charting every week so it really makes no sense at all. Same goes for if Drake or especially Taylor did it. It just isn’t worth it at all in this case.

But for an artist that only regularly charts maybe one album (or none) but has enough hits spread out across their discography, it would be a smart move. Someone like Katy or Gaga would benefit from it a lot more since they only chart one album each, and would then have a much higher charting entry every week with a GH. They have enough hits spread out that it’d be worth it.

That’s true, but they were huge back when the albums were new. The recurrent streams for the album tracks, outside of maybe a few, aren’t very good. But still the singles and what is coming from the album tracks is enough to carry his whole discography to chart. So this is such a dumb move :deadbanana4:

Miley should do one. It would be a massive thing for her :clap3:

and his album tracks streams are similar to drake / are normal for the most part

Greatest Hits albums in the streaming era make no sense. All it does is mess up units of each album. They weren’t even doing well in the digital era either. I believe only Pinks GH album and some male artist (which I forgot the name of) sold well.

Does it tho? The Bb 200 is full of them right now

it makes sense for modern artists with no albums currently charting since it gives them a potential lifetime entry

Ariana is a current act who would do well  with a compilation album
