Fish bites man's chopstick before getting eaten.

I understand this is a cultural thing, so I'm not trying to be disrespectful.

It's just that eating anything that's still alive is weird imo. :deadbanana:

What’s disrespectful is eating a living being. It would never fly if we ate a cat or human alive.

as a vegetarian, i feel uncomfortable with someone being served a living fish :biblio:

thats like if someone ordered a hamburger and the chef handed the reins of the cow to the customer :biblio:

What's disrespectful is eating meat, let alone an animal that's alive at the moment of doing so.

Y'all burn the world, drive, eradicate species, purchase cheap slave labour goods and support puppy mills - and you're getting upset over a fish?

Let other cultures live in peace. You don’t get it? Why should you?

There was also a video with a moving frog where people just ate the frog.

I saw this video maybe 8 years ago, apparently the fish is dead, it is just that salt or sodium will make the muscles moves because it was freshly dead.

Is it actually still alive?

isn’t this Ikizukuri?

they keep the fish alive as much as possible while they cut up its body to be served. most of the japanese have stopped doing it because it’s barbaric.

Erm I’m a meateater myself and I just want to say if you eat meat you’re not any better

The meat we eat gets mostly tortured while it’s still alive, we just don’t want to see any of that and prefer our meat to be unrecognizable when it arrives on our plate to be able to do so. So this man eating a fish that’s still alive doesn’t make him morally inferior in any way
