BGKC Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 (edited) I live in northern NJ (Bergen County) now after living in Queens, Chicago and Philly for the last 10 years. I like it. NJ gets a lot of ****, but it’s honestly a nice area to live in if convenience is a top factor with an array of public transportation options to get around whether it be to NYC or anywhere else in the state (and Philly). The suburbs tend to be walkable with downtown areas that have a lot of character as opposed to most suburbs across the US, there’s also a lot of diversity (arguably one of the most diverse suburbs in the nation). It has some run down, blighted areas to avoid (parts of Newark and Paterson for example) too but that’s a given being so close to NYC where the cost of living doesn’t leave much to be desired for people who fall below the average median income (unfortunately). Taxes and cost of living is insane, but it seems to motivate a lot of people to take advantage of all the opportunities and move on from here to live larger somewhere else down the line. This applies to most metropolitan areas in the north east imo. It isn’t a exactly place for one to get too comfortable, but a place full of opportunities nonetheless. Edited August 11, 2023 by BGKC
