Illuminati Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 (edited) I'm team if it's between two adults it doesn't matter. I have always been more interested in guys older than me and the age gap can be twice my age for all I care. Gentle, passionate older guys who know what they want >>> Edited August 10, 2023 by Illuminati 1
Dialamba Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 Nowadays you get called pedo for +4 years gap. but tbh it depends you’re 20 and dating a 30 year old person fine, older is kind of weird but it’s fine since you’re grown. However I find it weird when someone wait until the other one turn 18 as if it makes different 1

Orsay Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 i feel like the cut your age in half and add 7 rule is generally fine

byzantium Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 It’s less about the age per se and more about the emotional maturity and stage each person is in their lives. I think the rule of thumb [(older person’s age)/2]+8 gets at this idea. Honestly though until the age of 26, I think anything beyond a 4 year gap has the presumption of being weird.
Artist Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 It's obvious everyone in here have very different definitions of relationships. As long as it's legal and it wasn't intentionally pursued - if it's a blossoming of love between two consensual humans (not aliens) it can work but it's important to not be driven by some fetish but to be in love. People seek and are attracted sometimes to things they lack. If you lacked maturity/security and leader figure in your life, you may be drawn to someone older and secure. If you lack fun and adventure, you may be drawn to someone fun and outgoing. Also, a relationship is between two humans (not aliens) and so commentators shouldn't carry weight. No one who has ever truly experienced love would tell you don't be in love.

Big Bad Wolf Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 Everybody has different maturity levels, age doesn't define that. But I think younger people having relationships with older people (think 20s dating a 40s or older) has proven to be mostly unsustainable. There's always a weird dynamic.
Xtina23 Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 Hmmmm.. idk... maybe 20 years... 30 if he has cash money? idc idc jfnsdjkfndsjf
DamianSolo Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 I think people give age too much. As long as two people are legal and legitimately into each other, have a genuine respect and understanding of each other, are helping each other through life and bringing out the best in each other, what's the problem? I don't think it's anyone's place to see such a relationship and seek to criticize it due to a bigger age difference. After all, you have people of the same age dating each other and it only being a toxic circumstance all the way around. Age matters very little. Granted, it would be bizarre to see a 21-year-old dating a 53-year-old on the surface, for example, but what if it truthfully and legitimately just works?

I understand that a 22-year-old dating an 18-year-old is not ideal due to not having shared experiences (like going through college), but this between a 25 and 28-year-old is a pretty wild take. At that age, both most likely have gone through a lot of similar things (college and working), so I don't really see what's the issue.
