    • 50k for one day a week! My free time is worth it
    • 100k for 2 days per week - reverse weekends and weekdays!
    • 150k for 3 days per week - a 4 day weekend sounds amazing
    • 200k for 4 days - I'd take a 3 day weekend!
    • 250k for 5 days - money money money!

250k for 5 days and retire at 50 thanks

Right? OP says you're working a regular 9-5, we're not talking a 60-70 hour work week so assuming you actually like the job, be on the grind for 15-20 years, spend smartly, invest wisely and you're set for life in your mid 40s

50k a year would be plenty for me living in a low cost area tbh :thing: But I guess I could do 3-4 days a week to retire earlier or to afford vinyls

250k and then go down to 150k after a few years

But the money is good so I'm rich crying I guess? (even though 200K isn't anything to brag about nowadays :noparty:)

Over 20% of diabetics in America can't afford their insulin. :rip:

OT: Making $150k a year would already mean you're making more than 90% of Americans so anyone saying they'd wanna work 5 days over 3 is sociopathic, though really, any of these salary ranges make complaints about work seem silly except for a small handful of occupations.

Tbf where I live 150K is close to the avg/norm salary range. I love to aim higher if possible.

Is ATRL comprised of bankers and barristers something? "200k a year is nothing to brag about" is SENDING me. :rip:

I'd take 150K to work three days a week. I'd still want to have some type of structure happening in my life. I wouldn't know what to do with myself having quite so much free time. With that amount of money, though, I'd for sure be traveling more.

I picked 100k for 2 days :skull: I have a big social life, and many travel plans that I could do a lot more frequently with that kind of free time.

Six figures is already a good salary in most places, and 2 days a week is a dream. Anybody that couldn't be satisfied with that is too greedy.

20s and 30s are the best years of your life though.

Not those inflated American salary numbers :rip:

OT: I would do the 3 days. Currently working 4 days a week and it's fine.

This is obviously about the best paid states in the US. Like you have problems with paying your bills and be poor with 150k dollar per year in California.

The conversion rate between Western European wages and American wages for IT, engineering,... is multiply European wages by 3 times. You can't compare wages because of different costs of living, heavily taxed for all included service (the government is handling the big risks in life) vs lightly taxed (you are on your own and let's hope the health insurance doesn't chicken out when they have to pay out half a million dollar for cancer treatment).

I would choose 4 days working and 3 day weekend. If you are going too deep in the highest tax bracket, it could be smart to reduce working hours and income to be less deep in the 50% tax bracket.

It's just hypothetical to see what value people put on their free time vs. making money above a certain point

150k for 3 days. That's more than enough and WAY extra for my life style. My days off would be so productive. 3 for fun and 1 for whatever chores I didn't get done post work

150k for 3 days is amazing. So much time I can use to work on myself and my hobbies or just unwind.

Also I'd move somewhere relatively cheaper

How much you are making currently.

Poll: Hypothetically, let's say you can choose between the following options of post-tax income:

$50,000 - 1 day per week

$100k - 2 days per week

$150k - 3 days per week

$200k - 4 days per week
$250k - 5 days per week

Which one are you picking (assuming each day is a 7.5 hour shift?

Not @Xtina23 downvoting  anyone who said they'd be happy  with $150k :deadbanana4:

Post your W2s if you're apparently offended on behalf of the Top 3% of wage earners in America.

I could live beyond comfortably and still be able to save/invest most of my salary with 100K based on my current expenses and lifestyle (I'm naturally VERY frugal (probably got it from my mom) and lucky to have no debt currently), so I think I'd do that since I'd also have a ton of free time which I honestly value more anyways, the best of both worlds. :gaycat4: If I'm feeling greedy or feel like a big expense is coming, maybe I'd switch to 150K for 3 days.

As a business owner, this looks like my situation. Luckily, I like my job, but I'm still picking 4 days a week.

im that lazy i barely read the options but immediately clicked 50k a day per week :rip: sounds fitting for me.

Yeah 150k seems like a dream in Europe. I do less and live VERY comfortable with 50% taxes :cm:

1 day for 50k.  6 days off is a dream.  I currently have 4 days off.
