Well, the whole point of this is to be in the presence of the Pope, which is such a blatant marketing tactic aimed for insanely traditional Roman Catholic families. My parents had to pay for his "placement" for the event, which was an inordinate amount of money, but none of that pays for the actual trip to the hosting country; they still had to pay for his plane ticket (it took place in Sydney that year), arrange/pay for his home stay family, and other costs like pocket money.

 

It was a **** ton of money yet they still sent him because they were insane Catholics and thought it'd be an honour. Like this event literally takes advantage of families like mine for a quick lil cash grab.
