Distantconstellation Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 Just wondering since we have a lot of people here on atrl that try to be edgy
Contessa Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 (edited) I know people who don’t deny the change but question the source of the change (questioning or denying that humans are responsible, believing it is a course of nature, etc.) Edited August 6, 2023 by Contessa
AintNoOtherMe Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 I don’t fully believe in it. I think it’s just 90% about money. I don’t see politicians doing anything that’s actually beneficial to climate expect just raising taxes and taking more money from people, at least here in Europe. I don’t see how that will help the climate. I do believe it’s real to some degree, but it’s blown out of proportions and it just became a business for some people. 2 1 3
BtDecember Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 I do believe in climate change but also think that the politicians are taking advantage to it
Bosque Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 (edited) Literally most right wingers don’t believe in it nowadays. I’m not exactly good friends with them, but I know many like them, and there are several in my family. They are on “temperatures have always changed, remember there used to be ice ages too, it is only the media hyping it up because they suddenly report about all the fires” type denial. It’s almost like a badge of honor to them nowadays and they’ll blurt out their views loudly even when no asked, they are much bolder than they were 10-15 years ago. Edited August 6, 2023 by Dephira
BOOMBAYAH Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 I’ve never met someone who doesn’t think it’s real, if it wasn’t for social media I would probably just assume it’s a common thing everyone knows is happening.
velocity Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 I've been listening to 'inevitable facts' about climate change since I was six and none of them have come true. It's fearmongering and blown out of proportion. 2 1 2
ScorpiosGroove Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 as long as all these politicians and celebrity climate activists have multiple seaside mansions and fly around in private jets while preaching to us i’ll just believe its all about making money and tightening their control over the clueless masses 1 1 1

Into The Void Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 I believe in climate change but I think the process of it is actually much slower than the way they make it seem. 1
Onyxmage Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 A lot of people and i just shake my head at them.
Smarticle Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 "It's about money" while countries are breaking weather records ok

It's fearmongering and blown out of proportion. Water of Florida reached 101.5 degrees about 2 weeks ago that's never happened since they've recorded temperature. It's killing off coral reef. The oil industry has known about climate chance since the 70s when their scientists told them but they decided to ignore it because of money. Record temperatures are being broken all around the world. Just because u don't feel it or don't believe means nothing

The lack of progress is indeed 90% about money. Look at the Top 100 companies by revenue worldwide. How many of them are from the renewable energy sector? Probably zero. Meanwhile countless of them are fossil fuel and petrochemical industry. Koch Industries & Exxon Mobile and some of the biggest campaign donors in the US. In Europe, retired politicians commonly accept lucrative board of director spots on Gazprom, Lukoil, Shell, BP, TotalEnergy, etc. This is the main reason why so little progress is happening. Actual climate action would put the fossil fuel industry out of business and they are spending billions to prevent that from happening (or at least to delay it as long as possible) So yes it's just a business for some people, but let's please keep it real and not turn a blind eye on where the actual money flows are. 1
Phaunzie Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 Everyone I know believes in climate change, we live in the Caribbean. Literally, we experience it everyday and are taught it in secondary school.
Johnny Jacobs Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 How can they not . I feel like a fried chicken immediately after stepping outside. It's too hot. It's hotter than Michelle Morrone.
