Gabe² Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 I want to take French classes. I have looked for places near me and not a single school teaches french. I still want to learn even if online. Are there any websites that different languages online? Have you tried them? Are they legit? Do they work? Share your experiences
Pikachoo Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 (edited) back in the day, I used Rosetta Stone to learn from Japanese. But you need to pay for it. I've heard good things about Duo Lingo though. Edited July 31, 2023 by Pikachoo
ATRL Administrator Ryan Posted July 31, 2023 ATRL Administrator Posted July 31, 2023 Duo Lingo is actually really good. As a non-Spanish speaking half latino I’ve been learning Spanish for the last 2 years. It’s really effective. Gonna start Korean soon too. 1
DamianSolo Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 I've been looking into trying out Babbel to learn Spanish. I figured it would be worth a shot. I find myself interacting with Spanish speakers more and more where I live, and I'd like to be able to communicate with them more effectively.
GentleEarthquake Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 I heard Dua Lipa could help you with that 2
Bubble Tea Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Depend on the language I think. If you need to learn a foreign alphabet or characters like Japanese/Mandarin, I wish you an ounce of luck online lol.
popmusicisdead Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 i learned Japanese mostly online. there are plenty of blogs and free sites out there.
NoOneDiesFromLove Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Duolingo is good but it only gets you to a basic level in any language you're trying to learn. I'm currently on my second doulingo course. I've also heard about Italki which I think it's like an online platform for teacher and students, but I've never used it.
The7thStranger Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 (edited) Get a tutor through iTalki or LanguaTalk (the latter is better to their teachers). And honestly, use a book. Apps are great for supplementary learning, but not great for learning from scratch. Duolingo is community-run, so it's full of errors. If you want to learn (and retain) quickly, look for a used copy of Assimil's French course with the CDs/files/tapes. Edited July 31, 2023 by The7thStranger
