  1. 1. Is "I don't do green texts" embarrassing / immature?

    • Yes, it shows immaturity / elitism.
    • No, people are justified in saying this.

There's a really strange exclusive attitude that people with iPhones have toward non-iPhone users (which is propagated by Apple themselves as a business strategy). Back in the very early 2010s, being an iPhone user came with somewhat of an elite status. Now that they're far more accessible, this attitude has stuck. It's one thing that green texts have limited interactive capability, but I know a lot of people that will straight up refuse to talk to someone or interact with them via phone unless the text comes back blue. :rip:

This attitude is dramatic and extremely weird in my opinion. I can't explain why, but it's odd how some seem to legitimately feel better about themselves because they are using an iPhone.

It's misplaced classism I fear. My z flip 5 is way nicer than any iPhone

Yes it’s elitist, but from a practical standpoint, it’s so much easier to engage with people who also have iPhone.

I say it ironically because it triggers android queens.

It’s the equivalent to people who make a big deal out of some people liking pineapple on pizza. We get it. Move on.

Fair, but this is referring to people who avoid / refuse to engage with green texts.

You right sis, my bad! That’s just ridiculous! The real issue is that Androids and iPhones are perfectly capable of communicating easily, but Apple won’t allow it. It’s actually kinda shitty.

I would never use anything but blue texts / imessage

I also don't engage in whatsapp

No one outside of the internet gives a f*** what phone brand you have, I promise. If they do, then you just laugh at them and move along.

I have never heard someone say this seriously in my life. I find it impossible to believe this is a real thing, sorry. :rip:

iMessage functionality makes it literally faster and easier to send messages between iPhones with very little delay. You can also send large videos and images without a reduction in quality and you have increased functionality in group chats (not crazy, but some quality of life stuff like being able to name it, add/remove people easily).

I think iPhone to Android intentionally still uses SMS (someone more tech-inclined please correct me), and it’s nearly impossible to get full quality images/video from an iPhone to an Android.

Also, idk if this is still the case, but messages used to be intentionally divided so if I sent you a mega paragraph it might come through like “1/5; 3/5, 4/5” and who knows where part 2 and 5 ended up. You might get them tomorrow or not at all.

Honestly as I've gotten older, I've heard this much much less. This was back when I went to uni and people were 18-20, so hopefully they just grew out of it.

So glad I'm not an iPhone user and our themes change our color of the texts anyways :ahh:

Nah for real are people seriously like that?

Well, duh. SMS is a very outdated technology. If the person on the other end has an Android, then I’ll message them on Messenger instead. Thankfully most people I know are also on iMessage.

It’s actually a conscious effort by Apple to the point that Google made an appeal for it to end:

If you’re going to “text” me, it better be blue for the reasons other members outlined here already. Not because I care whether you have an iPhone, but because there’s read receipts and multimedia and large messages etc just work better.

If you don’t have an iPhone I literally don’t care, but then don’t text me. Message me through FB messenger or WhatsApp or some other data backed messaging service so that we can have a conversation which isn’t restricted to technology from 2000

Similar to @St. Charles I’ve heard people on dating apps talk about getting the “ick” from someone whose texts come back as green, but obviously they’re unserious people.
