Rami Malek.

Even if I loved EEAAO, JLC was the weakest.

The Blind Side. Sandra was serving Hallmark movie realness in that film.

sandra bullock, jamie lee curtis, allison janney, and laura dern wins were all bad and awards for their other work. very unpopular but i think marion cotillard is awful in la vie en rose. eddie redmayne was also an awful win.

:rip:

Allison Janney was ******* HILARIOUS in I Tonya. She 1000% deserved that

I *KNOW* someone did not just say Charlize Theron in Monster was undeserved.

i get that i tonya was a heightened movie, but she was a complete one-dimensional cartoon. almost all of her scenes were tonally off, which is the fault of the director, but the performance suffers anyway. not to mention that she's played this exact role many times, including drop dead gorgeous where she did it much better :keir:. lesley manville in phantom thread and laurie metcalfe in ladybird ran absolute circles around her and both deserved the win much more.

Rami Malek. Guy was stellar in Mr. Robot, but no. :rip:

The fact that Barfemian Ratsody went as far as it did that season and was a contender to win BP is just appalling. :rip:

Most wins from the first half of the history of the Oscars are ALL wrong. Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor x2 in particular.

Besides those, Jessica Lange in Blue Sky was notably underwhelming.

Helen Hayes was good in Airport, idk what that tweet is on about.

elizabeth actually deserved the second win for who's afraid of virginia woolfe tbh. she was never not on screen and fully tore the entire time, and it was a pretty daring performance for her.

this, it’s really annoying how biopics are now Oscar bait and the prestige ones always manage to snatch nominations or win

Gwyneth was excellent in Shakespeare in Love, she just wasn’t the best in the lineup. Not enough to put her name alongside the actual worst winners…

Of the 237 winning performances I’ve seen, I’d put Brendan Fraser and Sandra Bullock at the very bottom of my list. And the blackface winner from Ben Hur, who wasn’t even the second-best supporting actor in the film. Yikes.

Jamie Lee Curtis for sure.

:clap3: The only recent (ish) winner I’ve seen that rivaled that performance was Hillary Swank in “Boys Don’t Cry” and that was in 1999.

gwyneth definitely. both fernanda montenegro and cate blanchett delivered much stronger performances.
