Ms. Togekiss Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 Barbie keeps growing on Spotify everyday so maybe it’s still possible
Baby Judas Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 Oh wow that’s very impressive for neewjeans! It’s nice to see another kpop group where their physical sales also translate to spotify streams.
fridayteenage Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 Post-bundles, artists who can pull a 100k sales debut: Solo women - Taylor (X5), Adele, Beyonce, Billie Western men - Old: Metallica, AC/DC, Paul McCartney Not Old: Harry Styles, Morgan Wallen K-Pop - BTS (x2), BTS solo members (x2), Stray Kids (x3), Tomorrow X Together, Twice, Seventeen, Ateez, NewJeans Technically, 9 artists vs. 9 artists. It's weird how the only k-pop base that also heavily pushes singles sales is the bts army.
Polgg48 Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 so sorry to anyone who listen to noise fest greta van fleet album, ok numbers with outing promo and worth the headline the amount of times super shy on radio, i love mute button so much. 1

This is sth I can't wrap my head around. I don't follow kpop at all so, from an outside perspective, it seems like all these unknown acts have the same exact (obsessed) audience that buys everything from everyone without even deciding for themselves if they like the music. Which could explain why I don't seem to remember any of them releasing on the same week. Is that what's going on?

Which could explain why I don't seem to remember any of them releasing on the same week. Is that what's going on? kpop fans buy albums honestly not for the music (well it also is, but its just one of), the actual albums themselves are filled to the brim with content. posters, photocards (basically embossed physical cards of the artists modeling, etc.), chances to win fancalls (basically talk w the idols/artists), etc. the music is consumed mainly via youtube/spotify/streaming, the album is just an extension/souvenir of their support for the idol really. they have a generally umbrella of being the k-pop audience but this audience has their own big subsets of fans, a casual fan of one group may listen on streaming but is a hardcore fan of another so they only buy that groups albums, etc. for example, im a casual listener of kpop groups like girls generation, bts, newjeans but im only going out of my way to buy blackpink, another kpop girlgroups albums because they're the ones im absolute fans of. its not necessarily a fight with release dates/releasing the same week, they just release differently because they're owned by different labels. 1
ALA Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 God I hope the Barbie soundtrack can do 100k+ again next week
