Venice B Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 I think this one might top Be The Cowboy for me idk that ending sequence with The Frost > Star > I'm Your Man > I Love Me After You kinda left me in shambles The only one I really don't like is Bug Like An Angel but other than that this is like top 3 albums of 2023 for me 1
Venice B Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 You're an angel, I'm a dog Or you're a dog and I'm your man You believe me like a god I destroy you like a man I'm sorry I'm the one you love No one will ever love me like you again So, when you leave, I should die I deserve it, don't I??? 1

Lush you're the closest to being correct cause these people leaving Bury Me out of their top 2 for BTC are trolling
Ewan Chaos Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 GREAT album and I know it'll grow on me. Obsessed with the pinches of Americana sprinkled in on this record, honestly would have loved a little more of it in the record (even if others would've probably panned nn). Be the Cowboy > Bury Me >/= The Land is Inhospitable > Laurel Hell > Puberty 2 > Retired from Sad > Lush
Venice B Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 After three listens I can say that this is my favorite album from hers yup yup

My20sBlues Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 The Deal is one of the best things she has done IN HER ENTIRE CAREER It's definitely one of the best albums of the year and I like that critics recognize it too, although Pitchfork's rating without BNM is annoying

SoldierofLove Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 I like this album! I’m not very familiar with her work yet but I’ve been slowly getting into her.
motomami Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 This is really beautiful and an instant AOTY tie with Ocean Blvd
SpaceOddity Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 (edited) Still can't get over 'Buffalo Replaced, I really hope she taps more into its grunge/riot grrrrl sound for future albums since there've been songs of hers over the years that have a slight grunge undertone to me and I'd love it if she went there more. Babydoll. Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 oohhhhhhh wow ! The Frost is my fave fave fave rn wowowow. so little words n such simple chords but so impactful <333333 1
On The Bound Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 Star is one of the best songs of her career
Chemist Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 The lyrics in this album one of the best songwriters of her generation
VeniceBeach Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 2 hours ago, Chemist said: The lyrics in this album one of the best songwriters of her generation In a decade where female singer songwriters, once misunderstood, are becoming recognised as The Greats (see: Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey), Mitski can’t be far behind. A disregard for the mainstream proves again to be Mitski’s strongest armour, as ‘The Land…’ becomes her most sonically interesting full-length yet. Dork, 5/5 She's one of the main female singer-songwriters
K$Ellie Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 it's cute enough but very much a one listen kind of album, at least it's better than the last one but I think I'm over her

ATRL Moderator Unoriginal Posted September 16, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted September 16, 2023 a one listen (an hour) kind of album 5
truthteller Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 i wonder if she could score another viral hit with this album while every song is more on the melodic moody depressing orchestral pop / folkish side.. comparing to her past work with at least some uptempo bops...
KatyPrismSpirit Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 I like the album but my only issue with it is the sound, not to be ironic. I feel like this wasn't really mixed or engineered properly. It sounds very compressed.
Draper. Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 Listened to it 2 or 3 times, really easy to get into it. It clicked instantly with me, specially the second half. The Deal, My Love Mine All Mine, I'm Your Man and The Frost are clear standouts.
