It’s still a number one song, still currently inside the top 10 in the US, top 5 in major platforms, and the album already amassed 100k copies in the U.S. two months in advance. Falling under CS means nothing, since CS is ALSO a hit. CS succeeding doesn’t make Vampire a flop the same way Running Up that Hill having a surge didn’t make other current songs a flop either. It’s a great song getting its due justice. Before Midnights Tay was struggling way worse with singles and that didn’t stop such songs from playing the long game and becoming beloved in her catalogue (cardigan, ME!) and it obviously didn’t impact at all in her album sales power. SOUR is still getting major streaming updates. We should await until the era is actually further ahead to make assumptions about Olivia and her new songs 1
liquiddiamonds Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 (edited) @Starchild you are always annoying downvoting facts all the time just because something negative about Tay is written, and I’m a fan of hers. Look at Reputation singles, Lover singles and both Cardigan and Willow. The dozens of frontloaded threads we had for Look What You Made me Do and Ready for It, the threads dragging End Game because it peaked outside of the top 10 and fell off.The threads mocking Lover’s first two singles for peaking at #2. Then dragging the title track for not smashing during the winter season. Or how the Folklomore singles were powered by remixes, etc At the end of the day people continued to stream Taylor’s catalogue, buying her albums and these songs became beloved hits. Then other songs we thought deserved justice had their share of long-term success (Dont Blame Me, Delicate, Cruel Summer now). It’s annoying how some swifities are dragging Olivia for scoring and holding a top 10 just because it didn’t become the biggest thing ever three weeks in. Edited July 26, 2023 by liquiddiamonds 1

EndofASadMovie Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 I mean it's already below cruel summer on hot 100 so? 2 hours ago, georgechxng said: the song is currently pulling the same numbers cruel summer is pulling at its peak aka the song you guys are making threads about its success on a daily basis so i guess cruel summer is a disaster as well A song doing 4m while still having 800m total will never be a disaster considering it's stable and not declining heavily like the other one.

drivers license Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 weird as hell. we are in 2023 where song resurgences are more frequent than ever. mentioning Cruel Summer’s 4 year run as if it’s been smashing for all those years, when it is just having its moment. it’s gone viral while “vampire” isn’t. it’s simple math. Olivia isn’t losing anything just because this song is smashing. they’re unrelated. so why are we only comparing vampire to Cruel Summer and not other songs rn? idk maybe compare it to Taylor’s own songs. it’s hard to track which era are we in most of the time.
