Rio de Janeiro without a doubt. Probably around Leblon or Barra da Tijuca for more safety and to avoid tourism. I would choose elsewhere in Italy tbh.

Roma Of Course. I love my continent Southamerica but things here are far from easy. The criminality is too much to handle.

Rio. I'm brazilian from a state close to Rio (not Rio state/city) and the less safe i've ever felt in my life was in Rome tbh 

i knowww Rio is dangerous asf but in Rome i literally ran for my life. 

And i love the beach, so... 

 

also, i just love my messed up country Brazil! i can't help it.

Both have more cons than pros but I would still prefer Rome.

I've never been to Rio, so I really can't judge but maybe it's better for vacationing, in Rome you can live greatly.

What happened? Rome in general is considered pretty safe, maybe you've been unlucky.

Well if you’re black or anything darker than white. Rome would be a worse choice than Rio.

Rome is significantly overtouristed and is a nightmare to visit in the summer, but I love living in historic places, and it doesn't get much more historic than Rome

 

Plus, during the busiest parts of the year I can go somewhere nearby in Italy or the rest of Europe, and Rio doesn't have that option
