I've always enjoyed staying in Paris. My sister used to live in the 13th arrondissement and it was quite calm and cleaner there. But taking the public transportation to go there was a chore, trains are always late, the buses are always late, tickets are expensive af... :rip:

Americans should learn to stop comparing every nasty European or American city to the Middle East. So deplorable

the middle east comment was unnecessary, but i think this is how most tourists feel about big cities

the irony is that if this was a european talking like this about LA or NYC tho, all the triggered europeans in here would get a good kii

"I felt like I was in the Middle East" ahhhhhh yet another place with better culture, history, cuisine, architecture, etc than Amerikkka :lmao:

I'm one of the last people to defend France/Paris but....read the room. The lack of self awareness from these American tourists I see on TikTok is something else.

I was in Paris last November and I truly loved it. The streets at night are so beautiful and the clubs and restaurants are great. He didn't make the most of his trip and it showed.

The sea is nice I guess but it's infamously known for being a hotbed of theft and criminal activity. And it's nasty on top of that. They call it the armpit of Europe for a reason.

Is Paris not a hotbed of crime too? Marseilles seemed really pretty last time I went. The armpit of Europe is definitely Naples though, let’s be real.

Europeans are so fragile when you lightly criticize their smelly dump cities but see it as the moral crusade of their lives to fume over America, embarrassing

also is the "I felt like I was in the Middle East" bit not a weird thing to say :biblio: the Middle East has beautiful places

I'd assume he's middle eastern but it's a bit ramdom to not just name your country instead

In this thread: triggered Americans responding to other triggered Americans

No European gives a sh.t about this and we all know Paris looks like the gutters :rip:

Not once has a friend been to Paris without mentioning how gross it basically is

y'all will make a left vs right issue about literally anything

I love the decadence of Paris but I can understand why people don't like it...but lack of culture? You have operas, cabarets, concerts, buildings with more than 250 years of history (something the US doesn't have), museums of all kinds, cruising bars, sex parties

What culture / fun was he looking for? A country concert? A beer pong party?

Lol, apart from that comment this ***** has the audacity to say they can’t dress while wearing a mesh top, tacky bleached hair and a plastic puffer vest on top of a bad mustache and 10 inch forehead.

I'm sorry but if you can't have a good time in Paris you are truly dumb.

The food is mid? It's ugly? There's no culture? These are all factually untrue.

It speaks to this idea of Instagram tourism where people forget that we're always presenting our best faces on social media. Reality will always be messier than that, but if you're just going somewhere to take pictures without doing any research whatsoever you're bound to be disappointed. Paris is truly one of the prettiest cities on the planet and every time I go I find myself exhausted because there is so much to do (so many museums, galleries, experiences, shows). It also helps to be wiling to participate in a cultural exchanges, I've always found the people to be very friendly even with my B2-level French. Just making the effort to say "Bonjour," is appreciated.

And for someone in a fishnet tank and black puffer vest to say that Parisians are unfashionable! I can't.

Also, most big western cities are filthy. Have you ever smelled NYC in July? I have never encountered more human waste on the ground than in Toronto.
