Subversive Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 The Middle East comment really adds to his credibility

It never ceases to make me laugh when people wag the finger at Americans while using American slang and desperately looking for the nearest KFC. It’s just because it’s currently cool and trendy to make fun of America on social media. There’s a mix of non-Americans with an inferiority complex plus self-hating Americans desperate to not look MAGA’d and patriotic. If this had been a European visiting NYC and talking about how gross it is, everyone would be cackling and agreeing. Edited July 13, 2023 by Aaron 4

Into The Void Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Most cities if u look at them look like this 2
Pop Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 As somebody who lived there for a very long time. I see zero lies. 1

It just irks me when I see so many Europeans cosplaying as Americans while also making fun of the culture as if they truly understood it. Too many people trying to get a seat at the table they don't deserve. 2

And yet, the US literally has a copy of the Eiffel Tower on Vegas How ironic
onapearl Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Paris probably isn't terrible, but it's definitely overrated. Hype ruins everything, including places. That said, when he said, "I felt like I was in the middle east," while showing endless graffiti, I was thinking that it looked more like urban America. Like NYC or something. This guy is definitely being dramatic.

Americans, on the whole, don't try to copy European culture. Vegas and Disney World are playgrounds and not indicative of every day life there at all. I think a far more apt comparison would be Americans who watch think they understand what Japan is like because they've seen anime. Even that's more niche, though, and not nearly as widespread.
Orsay Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Good. Keep annoying Americans like that guy out. I love when people talk **** about California/the Bay Area. There are too many people here anyway, stay AWAY! 1
Orsay Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 also is the "I felt like I was in the Middle East" bit not a weird thing to say the Middle East has beautiful places 2

OT: No other city in Europe or the world can match Paris’ unique energy, it’s basically Jerusalem for anyone that’s even remotely interested in art and at the end of the day it’s the most visited city for a reason, haters can seethe
Odette Violet Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 (edited) so most big cities in the world maybe except Tokyo? Edited July 12, 2023 by Odette Violet
MonsterJohn Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 That's very ignorant Paris architecture is second to none, I was in awe We cannot trust American taste when they think their rat infested concrete jungle is a livable city 1 1 1
Beyonceist Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 He's not lying, I lived in Paris for 3 years and only if you have money, Paris is great. Otherwise, it's ghetto as hell.

Paris - historically, architecturally, culturally, socially - objectively is one of the supreme achievements of modern man, it's kinda the apotheosis of civilization and only ugly idiots are disappointed with it because they go there pretending to be a Kardashian during fashion week and get rightfully clocked for being uncultured swine x You shouldn’t go to ANY place if you know nothing about it except the way it’s depicted as a background in media you consume. If you know nothing of the daily life, culture, or history before you get there, then that means you’re not and never were curious about it. Your reason for being there is stupid and shallow. If you know only the easily recognizable landmarks that literally everyone knows then you simply are not qualified to indulge in the privilege of travel and you are DUMB for spending a lot money to go to a place you are totally ignorant of, with no intention of ever becoming familiar with it Exactly, there's literally so much to do in Paris! I get the impression that people who go and complain about it arrive with zero plans other than wanting to visit the Eiffel Tower and soak up vibes You could easily fill a week with things to do and see and you'd still be missing loads of stuff.

AmandaHP Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 He made some points.. The middle east comment was unnecessary tho
Summer Boy Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 (edited) Paris is like the most beautiful city on Earth (with Rome) tho. The architecture, the churches, the palaces, the culture, the museums... Of course, every big city has ugly parts (the Middle East comment was disgusting wtf), but there are SO many architecture jewels in Paris, it's crazy. Edited July 12, 2023 by Summer Boy
Marry The Gods Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 It's definitely not my favorite city I've traveled to in Europe but I still had an amazing time during the five days I spent there.
