Paris - historically, architecturally, culturally, socially - objectively is one of the supreme achievements of modern man, it's kinda the apotheosis of civilization and only ugly idiots are disappointed with it because they go there pretending to be a Kardashian during fashion week and get rightfully clocked for being uncultured swine x

 

You shouldn’t go to ANY place if you know nothing about it except the way it’s depicted as a background in media you consume. If you know nothing of the daily life, culture, or history before you get there, then that means you’re not and never were curious about it. Your reason for being there is stupid and shallow. If you know only the easily recognizable landmarks that literally everyone knows then you simply are not qualified to indulge in the privilege of travel and you are DUMB for spending a lot money to go to a place you are totally ignorant of, with no intention of ever becoming familiar with it

If you go with movie expectations, you're going to be disappointed.

 

Personally, I love Paris. The food is great, the shopping is great, and there is a lot to do. You just have to go there knowing that you need to move at the pace of the city and not your own.

I hear comments like this a lot. And it's very rich considering just how much of the industrialized world, particular in youth spaces, ape American culture. It never ceases to make me laugh when people wag the finger at Americans while using American slang and desperately looking for the nearest KFC.

It’s true though. Paris is the pits and pales in comparison to the quality cities of Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Croatia, even the underdeveloped Greece. Parisians generally aren’t great people to be around either.

 

Nice and Marseille are much better.
