Jjang Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 TUN was/is massive. I'll never get why ATRL is obsessed with discrediting it.

wantedyoutogrow Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Ariana in the top 3 and she barely did anything for that album, like she's mother

byzantium Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 I actually feel like this does a better job expressing the popularity of these respective albums. The only things I would adjust for to represent the popularity of the album is I think remixes of songs originally released on the album should be included (like the levitating remix) and deluxe editions released at the same time as the standard edition should be included.

ATRL seems to conveniently forget that TUN set every pop & female album streaming record in 2019. It literally set the standard. It wasn't until Midnights in October 2022 that the U.S on-demand streaming record for a female album was broken after TUN set that record in early 2019. SOUR, 30, WWAFAWDWG, Red (TV), Fearless (TV), folklore, evermore, HTE, etc. weren't able to break it. It was the eighth biggest on-demand steaming week in the U.S for an album and the only pop album in the top 20 for on-demand streaming weeks at the time. ATRL discrediting its impact on streaming, especially for pop releases is disingenuous at best. 3 2

It's why it's so frustrating to see people continue to act like Ariana is forgotten. Like how do you end up as the second most streamed female of the year without an official release and get called a flop? 1

Thank u next is also massive but Anti was the 1st. ANTI has been very consistent on streaming, but never was a huge immediate smash on streaming. Dangerous Woman was for a long time was the biggest female album of 2016 on Spotify until ANTi took over earlier this year. My Everything held the top spot for most streamed female album on Spotify from 2014 until 2019 when TUN took over. If anything My Everything was the first pop album to really take advantage of streaming. ANTI was/is huge don't get it twisted but it didn't set any notable streaming records to take this title. Every pop album that followed TUN had to go through a record TUN set. It was the first pop album to smash on streaming and the records it set speak for itself. The biggest on-demand streaming week for a female album before TUN was IOP which did 202M on-demand streams in the U.S. TUN out did that by over 100M streams (307M) less than a year after IOP. 2 1
