It's not far out of the top 100 anyway (~130s). Total streams aren't as important here in order to not inflate older songs that have gained more streams just by virtue of being older. That's why Flowers is already in the top 10 and Godzilla is not close despite both having similar total performance as of right now - which is clearly right since Flowers will end up with way higher totals once it's the same age. It is a joke right? I'm sure you're not telling me that Yummy has been a more successful song than Godzilla, are you? or Rain On Me, About Damn Time.....

Godzilla’s first two months on global Spotify: 4-5-7-12-14-19-23-23 Yummy’s first two months: 2-4-5-6-6-10-7-11 Yummy started charting higher than Godzilla on the Feb 15, 2020 chart, with 7 weeks in the top 10 instead of 3 for Godzilla. It’s not that deep - it’s just chart performance

It's like saying Midnights in 2022 has been just as successful as The Album by the Jonas Brothers because both have spent the same weeks at #1. Even having all the numbers at your disposal, you still talk nonsense, the funniest thing I have seen in a long time

They use an inverse point system based on positions due to eras being hard to compare. I also don't think the formula is perfect, but it's what Billboard uses, so... it ends up being pretty close to true performance over time on a week-to-week basis anyway. I don't even get that second part. The Album debuted at #3 in the US (behind Midnights) and tanked to #88 the following week. No matter what formula used, it doesn't benefit the latter in any way. Terrible comparison. 1

If you believe that these are the most successful songs of the decade congratulations I think it's great, it shows how little analysis capacity you have, especially nowadays that you have all the data to make a deep analysis not extrapolate a methodology of BB to Spotify data that really have nothing to do. Just by looking at songs certifications your list doesn't make any sense, but hey, congratulations for using an inverse point system I don't even get that second part - You are right, muy fault, change The Album by The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION

It's about the biggests songs on GLOBAL 200 chart. It's about the amount of points that the song managed to acumulate when it was still in the charts. A example: We Don't Talk Anymore is not even close to any list of biggests song of the last decade when it comes to chart points, but if you look at it's streams: +3B on Youtube, +1,6B on Spotify, it's clearly one of the biggests songs of 2010s. The song didn't perform really well on the charts, but it was consumed a lot in a proportion that wasn't big enough to make it get back to the charts (based on chart rules). Others examples are the recurrent ones, that still being consumed by the public, but cannot make it to the charts. Blank Space (by Taylor) is more consumed TODAY than Jaded (by Miley), but Blank Space is in recurrent situation, so Jaded do manages to chart, while Blank Space doesn't. If it wasn't by those chart rules, we would still have songs like Blinding Lights and Blank Space charting forever. Edited July 10, 2023 by corotinho 1
Cheers Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 Does this include South Korea? Because my fave, Justin Drew Bieber, would likely be #1-#2 with that
