SoldierofLove Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 TikTok Music has launched as a premium-only music subscription service in Indonesia and Brazil, and it is licensed by, and includes the catalogs of all three major record companies: Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and Sony Music. https://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/tiktok-officially-launches-premium-only-tiktok-music-streaming-service-and-its-licensed-by-all-three-majors/ Is it over for Spotify? Is music made specifically to go viral on TikTok here to stay? Who’s going to switch when this launches in your country?

Lana Banana Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 So every song is going to be by Alvin & The Chipmunks? 3
Rev8 Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 It's not free so it isn't over for Spotify but once they decide to do Freemium, Spotify will be going to 2nd place in the future
Taylena Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 I think this will benefit non-Tiktok crafted songs actually. Tiktoks users will stream and do big numbers on that plataform while decreasing Tiktok songs dominance on Spotify and give space for "regular" songs to perform better and place higher in the Spotify charts.
