Jessie Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 (edited) When Australia stan an artist they stan down. Serving a LastFM chart and taking the streaming era to its logical conclusion We’ve known Taylor had been entering uncharted territory for a modern music artist in terms of success, and not only that but this peak is still pretty fresh and will likely continue for a while to come, which is crazy for someone almost 20 years into their career. It’s like when Sia suddenly became the hottest name in pop in her 40s when she had an entire career under her belt before then. It’s clear that COVID through The Eras Tour is going to be marked as the shift where she became a living music industry legend, shored up her fanbase while ensnaring huge swathes of otherwise casual audiences into her fantasy or at least feel obliged to acknowledge it. As someone who is still left mostly cold by her it’s fascinating to see happen in real time. Edited July 7, 2023 by Jessie 8

That was the turning point. 2022’s Midnights saw her cashing in the hype for the first time and now she’s just riding that high I think if we have to weigh this, it would be Folklore Critical Acclaim Release 30%, Folklore AOTY 20%, FTV 10%, ATW10MVTVFTV 40%

elevate Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 Well, yeah. We generally have taste and this is a good example of that. 1
Cruel Summer Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 Literally laughed out loud at this, I can't even compute like this is literal legend behavior, and it's not even in the US! 1
