Door Dash driver says "f**k you" to customer after $5 tip for $20 pizza

I went to Subway the other day and now at checkout they even ask for tips when all they did was make the sandwich for me :rip: which is their job??? It made me not want to go back to Subway because why should I tip and then I feel bad because I hit "no" lol.

I always tip for Delivery, but for a $20 pizza I also would have prob only given a $5 tip. That's reasonable for all she got :rip: What a douche.

I also always tip at restaurants too unless the server is nasty or rude which was one time, and I didn't tip. However 99% of the time I will tip even for not good service lol but him complaining over $5 is so ungrateful.

It sounds like he was just having a bad day.

Also, corporations want us to lash out at each other like this, workers vs customers, so no one is looking at the companies paying less than a living wage.

He was rude and the "**** you" at the end from him alone, he deserved to be fired. Bad day or not.

If I had a dollar for every time I didn't get a tip at all, I could probably buy her house.

To take a 25% tip for granted like that...

Why are you trying to explain your country? If you support your country acting a fool, then don't get mad if the rest of the world clowns you. :michael:

I’m not American.Lol. I’m just exaggerating things. :chick1: But I’ve read somewhere that waiters/waitresses in the US take note of people who doesn’t tip. And they spit on their food when they go back to dine again. :rip:

I believe in fair tipping for services like waiting tables or bartending, or delivery. 20% is standard.

But the pervasiveness of places asking you to tip has absolutely gotten out of hand over the past year. I've worked service sector jobs and know how soul crushing it is. I want companies to pay their workers a living wage and cut the inflated salaries of higher ups. But in some places now there is this implied guilt when they swing around the iPad and ask for a tip, when all they did was ring up my packaged muffin from the shelf. The DoorDash driver here is absolutely being extreme especially when a large portion of people who order from delivery apps never tip.

The way Americans are so obsessed with tips. :deadbanana2:

Maybe y’all should drag the greedy corporations who pay embarrassingly low salaries instead?

Yeah and how do you think that’s going? If you’re in America, TIP

In Hairstylists, massage, and facial people are also getting lumped into the waitor/bartender group at this point.

idk about you guys but i'd feel guilty not tipping my haircut lady

Yeah I wasn't thinking about non-food but those are definitely a tip-worthy service. Hotel maids too.

Tip culture is getting out of hand, especially for those who are only doing the jobs they were hired and are paid to do. I still say a tip is earned, not given. I'm not going to give you a tip just because. If all of these workers banded together and focused their frustration on the businesses they work for, maybe they would be paid a better wage to where they wouldn't worry about their tips—it would just be a bonus, as opposed to what they're counting on.

I'll tip my barber every time because she does a wonderful job and truly takes her time with me—shaping and lining me up. It's what she's supposed to do, but still. I'm not, however, tipping a t-shirt vendor who I'm already buying from. I don't know why that's becoming a thing. I don't really eat out, I only ever get carryout these days—but I'm not tipping for that either. Why should I have to? Like, what extra did you do? You're just simply doing your job in packaging my food to go. If I get my car washed, I'll tip the workers cleaning my car due to how hot it is.

sorry but at that point get a job that actually pays you :deadbanana:stop relying on the public to pay your wages

door dash is more of a side gig than an actual job

This is America. If you can’t tip 50% then don’t dine on restaurants or order food. Go to the grocery and cook your own.

Nope, America is actually him getting fired because of this

I know Subway is insane for the tipping thing

I agree that tipping in the US is getting ridiculous and we're being asked to tip for such small tasks that your employer should be compensating you for. I'll admit I often eat out or get food, groceries, etc. delivered and I'll tip for great service but at this point, you do feel pressured to do so.

I found an interesting TikTok about a woman who owns an ice cream shop in Seattle (a city ran on inflated costs) and she doesn't allow any tipping. She increased her prices and pays her employees very well + health insurance. She also noticed a discrepancy that her employees of color were unfortunately tipped less than the other employees so she ditched it all together.

Maybe he should either find another job or get a couple more jobs if he's going to act like a spoiled child.

Damn. I don't even tip on Doordash

What!?  Does anyone even pick up your orders?!  You do realize Dashers somewhat rely on tips because they're paid only a small base rate per order. :doc:

America is so ******.

Greedy minority percent of rich capitalists crafting this culture and turning middle and lower class on each other for not tipping, whilst they dodge every tax possible.

The fact you need to tip so highly tells you the system is wrong,

I used to dream of living in America when I was younger, now I could think of nothing worse.
