More successful artist are more likely to peak in later eras.

This might just be because artists who have sophomore slumps and don’t recover aren’t being talked about enough to have their sales analyzed 3
Maxxie Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 I don't think this factors in a lot of things. Arguably LOUD or even ANTI could be seen as bigger than GGGB. Same could be said for BEYONCE and other more recent albums? IDK I could be wrong

IDK I could be wrong I think this has its merits but due to the shifting nature of the industry (particularly sales) I agree that this doesn’t paint the full picture. Rih and Bey defo aren’t defined by their third era alone but it shows us that their sales kept growing and they then achieved further longevity in their second decade so 1
Mitsouko Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Isn’t Madonna’s bestselling album True Blue, her third? 2

1989 Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 I don’t think this matters too much, but it is interesting nonetheless.

Hmm I initially didn’t want to do artists that debuted before 1980 given how the nature of the industry changed, but it might be interesting to see. Cher, Dolly, Aretha, and Barbara all probably peaked with their 20th+ album. I’ll update when I have some time to sit down and figure that out.
