Only for professional contacts if there's a job to get done by a certain deadline, there's no reason to otherwise

Nobody needs to know when I've read their text and vice versa

No. As someone with anxiety who sometimes has to be in the right headspace to respond to messages, I don't have time for the entitlement and drama.

You'll know I've read it when I respond :sorry:

No, I take forever to respond to texts even if I see them. I'll leave read receipts on for select ppl though

I removed it bc people were getting in they feelings when I didn’t reply on THEIR time.

no. honestly I despise that sh*t, it gives me so much f*cking anxiety

I have one (1) friend at this point who has it on and it's my summer-they (summerboy but non-binary, also they know I call them that) and god they're so sexy with their beard and long hair but I DON'T LIKE TEXTING THEM at this point because their read receipts piss me the hell off. I'd rather just never text them and just see them in person but they live with their ex now and it's weird and aaaaaa! fortunately they don't mind that I don't have mine on (or at least I don't think they mind?)

but I had an ex-best friend who was anal about me keeping read receipts on and it was SO ANNOYING cause she would text so quickly and get pissed when I didn't do the same. dude her blood pressure has probably always been through the roof. she's a born again christian who renounced her own bisexuality and we're no longer friends, and i miss her, but i do NOT miss the way she texted...

Yeah, and I leave people on read all the time/wouldn’t care if someone did it to me either.

sometimes things don’t need a response but they’ll know I’ve seen it, sometimes I’ll genuinely just forget. people make suuuuuch a huge deal out of read receipts

Yes. I like for people to know when they were either too out of pocket or annoying for a response.

I don't open a message until I am ready to reply so no.

This is me. I'll read and reply on my terms and if you have a problem with that you can cry about it in your own time :cm:

absolutely not

No - I don't like people tracking when I read messages

Posted

Yes because it forces me to reply to people when I open their messages. When I've not had it on in the past I'd just open messages as soon as I got them and if I didn't reply straight away I'd forget to reply later.

No. I want to be as mysterious and unknowable as God

Posted

Yes, but not for any type of sinister reason. It's simply to let people know that, yes, I received and read your message. I'm generally good at texting people back, but sometimes a response just isn't needed.

All my friends and I communicate through Discord so I only get texts from my dad. I leave my read receipts on for him, although I just put my SIM card in my Pixel.

Depends on the person
