cockatoo Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 I think it's fine when used as an adjective but it irritates me when people use it as a noun like "look at those homosexuals". Also, this is a bit weird, but it irks me when people pronounce it h/ŏ/mosexual and not h/oʊ/mosexual (short o instead of a long o) and maybe that's because that's the way older people here say it (and they're more likely to be homophobic).
DamianSolo Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Generally, I don't have an issue with it. It ultimately just depends on how it's used and the context of the conversation. It can be used innocently, just as it can be used condescendingly—with a negative mindset.
Orsay Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 I never thought of it that way. It’s just a more proper, scientific term for gay
