This was actually a fun movie but I have no idea HOW the budget was as bloated as it was unless Harrison Ford’s paycheck was half of it :rip:

I remember reading about how expensive that de-aging technology is, so that's probably what it was.

All those movies suck so it’s understandable

People want Barbie and not another white man action movie.

I hope Hollywood sees this as an incentive to start making more mid-budget films.

Cinema in general needs to think about how to make itself appealing again. With some streaming services now offering users the ability to purchase films shortly after their theatrical release, there doesn't seem to be much point to me to go to the cinema. I used to really enjoy the spectacle of seeing things on the big screen but since we all have HD devices in our pockets now, the appeal has worn off somewhat. Plus people's manners have definitely become much worse post-covid. Talking during films and leaving the place looking like a mess, I'd much rather watch a film from the comfort of my own home, and don't really care about waiting a few months to see it. Also at home I can turn on the subtitles and pause the film when I want. Sitting in a seat for 2+ hours without any breaks isn't fun to me at all.

Deadline just reported the production budget alone was $329M and marketing was $100M so the break even point is probably around $800M. What a mess. :deadbanana4:

$329M production budget is insanity. Not even Infinity War costs that much.

Oh god this is about to be the biggest bomb of all time.

A $330 million dollar budget???

:deadbanana4:

Yeah, this already takes The Flash’s spot as the biggest box office bomb of the year so far.

Another 120M for marketing, so 450M

Not just of the year, of all time. This will 100% top John Carter for the #1 spot.

Crazy that Elemental will outgross The Flash and Indiana Jones worldwide after opening so much lower ($44.5M) :deadbanana4:.

Disney budgets are out of control...

Lord of the Rings TRILOGY: $281M ($450M-$480M+ adjusted)

Indiana Jones 5: $329M

your second paragraph is why they have an anti-incentive to make more mid budget films.

they fear only something with a fanbase can pull through.

so far this year, the $100 mil grossers that aren't franchises are elemental (which is tied up in the Pixar thing and is going to lose a bunch of money), and m3gan which is horror and those have a tendency to rake in money despite low budgets.

how can you make an action adventure movie with a 80 years old as main star ?:rip::rip:. Girl we needed the ageism so bad.

Blockbusters need under 35 people to make money, how can someone of that age go to watch their grampa jumping here and there. This was the worst decision of all time, BD 2049 was already a huge hint Harrison Ford has less star power than Kevin Jonas for younger audiences.

Also the nostalgia movie about indiana jones wasl already made in 2008.

This was the time for a reboot with a new 40 years old actor. The fact Indiana Jones is only Harris Ford is a big lie, they said the same for the Batmans, Bonds, Jokers, Spidermans etc.. and then we got more than only one iconic performances of the same character.
