Gwendolyn Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 https://twitter.com/sbworkersunited/status/1668619099025575946?s=46 Quote For the last two weeks, Starbucks workers have taken to social media to report that the company is no longer allowing Pride decorations in-store. This seems to be the first year the publicly "pro-LGBTQ+" company has taken this kind of stance. Taking a cue from Target, who bowed to anti-LGBTQ+ pressure and removed pride merchandise, corporate and district management are taking down the pride decorations that have become an annual tradition in stores.
KKW Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Literally wtf… I remember the pride shirts we wore back in 2019 at the stores. We really are regressing
Beyonnaise Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 I'm kind of happy just because corporate "pride" has always been so hollow and watered down actual injustices. Like Kendall Jenner's Pepsi ad. But it's disheartening and very revealing that they're willing to blow wherever the winds go.
KnightOfAllRealms Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 I hope all fastfood joints with their high calorie high fructose cheap meals follow suit and welcome all the Obese gay hating soccer moms and dads with open arms
Poxy Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 As another user said, they went from having free pride shirts and pins… to this
GivingCher Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Starbucks of all places? The queer community runs that place, that’s really disappointing
getBusy Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 I’m happy i havent visited one in over a year. Support your local cafe if you have one!
Aston Martin Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 (edited) I already don't go there, but we need to boycott as many of these places that are caving to the wills of these homophobic and transphobic terrorists as possible. The only thing these corporations care about is their profits, so we need to start hitting them where it hurts. Edited June 13, 2023 by Aston Martin 2
JoeAg Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 thank god i f*cking quit last month. i had an absolutely horrible shift lead who was such a big old bully to me and only me. she hated me for no f*cking reason and made my time at starbucks hell. my boss laughed and egged her on too. he also had a crush on me which was a bit weird! anyway yeah f*ck that damn corporation 1
James_Dean Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 No money for Starbucks! We're going to Dillard's! 1
Pop Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 It seems like all the progress that has been made since 2011 has been erased in America. But then again, 77% of Americans still support gay marriage and it seems this is just a reaction to the extreme MAGA terrorists running around. America needs to quickly lock up Donald Trump and introduce stricter laws against the increasingly dangerous right-wing domestic terrorists tearing their county apart. 2 1
Abracadabra Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 All these brands and corporations are shallow as **** (I know we knew that already but still).... the last decade spent using the community for money and as soon as it's not trendy anymore they are gone. The cultural regression that is going on currently is alarming.
onapearl Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 These corporations were only using the momentum of the LGBT rights movement for their own personal profit. I'm only glad that this might wake more people up to this fact and stop them from falling into the same trap in the future. But it's still a bad sign for where our general culture is heading.
Zaram Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 They pandered to us and now that they see that the public opinion about us is switching they switch like (Nicki Minaj gif)
Carla Rosón Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Not surprised the Taylor Swift of coffee are doing this 1
@michael Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Really depressing that a really loud minority of homophobes are causing so much havoc
Reflektor Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 This is why we never should have assimilated in a capitalist structure to begin with as these corporations only care about a bottom line and whatever is the fastest way to serve it. This I am convinced must be a union busting tactic, however. I don't know of a Starbucks not run by the gays! They want to crush Starbucks Workers United from where it hurts.
nadiamendell Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Oh wow, looks like I'm going to be saving a lot of money going forward!
antoine_ Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 This is disgusting, the lgbt community brings them billions every year and this is how they repay us.
slimfem Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 (edited) We're cooked girlies. Lettuce hope that Canada and Euro countries offer asylum when the christian fascist start executing us in the name of a fairytale. Also, f*ck them, I'll never buy anything from there again. spree Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Just brew at home for christs sake. It costs pennies a day. 1
Dolce Vita Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 good, more reason to support an independent coffee shop in your local area
Tropez Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Weren’t gays complaining about the commercialization of Pride. And now that they’re stepping back it’s bad? 2
