yeah naturally as an ass connoisseur myself I've never actually slapped anyone's so this lil phenomenon has left me puzzled

In sports I think its a form of motivation, its a meaty body part so it doesn't hurt as much and safeer. I do see some doing it on the back of the head

 

I am more worried about a gay doing it for that same reason and probably getting slapped back in the face.

It is a bond thing, not a grab or feel up, my classmates would do that, especially if the guy had meat on the back and it was perceived as something normal, no one raised an eyebrow.
