TROPICUM Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 An uber driver ran out of gas before making it to his destination; he then asked the app user to cashapp him some money for gas. The user got extremely defensive, and told him that “that wasn’t his problem” & “this is unprofessional”. When the Uber driver finally made it to the users’ apartment building, he asked the user to let him in or to meet him outside and the user refused, even threatening to call the cops on him. https://twitter.com/punishedpants/status/1664026226518835206?s=46
Leppie Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 All the people defending the Uber driver on Twitter Asking for gas money to complete a delivery.. what the actual fk 2 1
KBax Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Um yeah... extremely unprofessional of the driver to ask for money, at that point I would've just cancelled and went through another delivery app like wtf.. 1 1

Very sad & entitled user. Is this an American app? or system? The user is already paying the driver a pricy fee + tip to deliver their food, why should they have fill the broke ass' tank on top of it? To have such a strong opinion about something you know nothing about... 1
PoisonedIvy Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 The fact you can actually cash out while you’re delivering it’s just most drivers don’t know how cause it’s kind of a hidden feature
Jotham Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Asking for gas money might come across as unprofessional but a lot of people who work for apps like Uber Eats live paycheck to paycheck so I wouldn't immediately dismiss this as a scam. Plus, nothing warrants him threatening to call the cops on him. 3 2
Delirious Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 This is the drivers fault tho. It's so weird to ask the user for money. That's literally how most scams work 💀

That’s common sense & me stating that doesn’t make me wrong. There is a reason why most of the comments are supporting the driver on Twitter. Look up what an opinion is & study it. Where tf do you live? You don't pay for the drivers GAS money. His JOB is to deliver the food, they paid for the delivery and a tip. They do not also pay his gas One of the dumbest users on this site. I will gladly take the WP. 5 1 2

ToMmY Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 The way I imagined the driver laughing at the people who fall for this trick. Yeah, f him.

They're already being paid. That's the point of the app. If you took 30 seconds to google Uber Eats before huffing & puffing you would know this. 2 1
Big Bad Wolf Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 (edited) Unprofessional and was probably trying to hustle him out of a tip. I wouldn't have sent it either and I would have cancelled the order if I was able to be refunded, because at that point I wouldn't have even ate the food. Edited June 1, 2023 by Big Bad Wolf

I think at least 4-5 people already explained to you (and on this thread) how the service works. Go be dense somewhere else So if you get a cab/taxi, you’re going to pay gas money on top of the whatever service fee they charge you?
SweetTalker Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Reading the twitter thread, the guy ordering food seems like a total entitled douchebag. But still, why work for a delivery service if you have no money for gas? It just makes no sense. 1

suburbannature Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 I mean, the driver is initially at fault but the rider knows nothing about deescalation or problem solving. cancel, get a new ride, and move on 3
Tylerbv Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Everyone in this looks bad but the driver definitely ****** up.
Bussea Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 (edited) the customer seems absolutely insufferable as well. i don’t think asking the customer for gas money is inappropriate, but it’s not that serious and none of this is necessary. Edited June 1, 2023 by Bussea
truthteller Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 What’s next? Customer should pay for a vehicle to get food delivered?
Sabrina Carpenter Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 ppl defending the driver as if he’s doing it for free the customer pays a delivery fee+
