The Darwinism :rip:

The US Coast Guard has suspended a search for a missing Louisiana teenager who reportedly jumped off a boat on a dare during a high school graduation trip to the Bahamas.

Cameron Robbins, 18, was celebrating with students from University High Lab School in Baton Rouge when he fell from the Blackbeard’s Revenge sunset cruise at about 11.30pm on Wednesday, a Lousiana State University (LSU) spokesperson told WBRZ.

A massive two-day operation conducted by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) and US Coast Guard using helicopters and surveillance aircraft failed to yield any trace of the teenager, and the search was called off on Friday, the Coast Guard said in a statement.

Bet?

I'm confused, shouldn't the students have reported it right when it happened? like, did no one notice he didn't come back up after jumping??

It was a student trip on a cruise ship, not only did staff members probably immediately go for help so did the chaperones or one of the many screaming people we can hear in the back.

The ship is moving much faster than he or anyone else can swim and it’s pitch black out at sea, there’s not a lot of hope in that situation.

This was a really dumb thing to do, even worse at night. Must have been terrifying treading water while watching your last possible hope of living slip fade away into the night.

While it's easy to judge him, we were all 18 once and I know I made my share of stupid decisions that could've resulted in death if I weren't as lucky (especially if alcohol was involved).

The video is utterly terrifying though, being left behind by the ship that would've been unable to stop in time to do anything (though it's not like they would've been able to locate him in the pitch black darkness anyways). I can think of very few worse ways to die.

RIP.

I think I'd feel the same if my niece hadn't just graduated. So much family time around the excitement of her graduating and its such a big moment in a youths life. Even though the kid made a dumb mistake that (most likely) cost him his life, I can't even imagine what the family is going through. :dancehall:

you can see a shark in the video

depends on the school district or parent teacher association budget

some get trips to an amusement park while others might get a night out on the town

Did someone say bye bye? :skull:

Looks like they threw a lifebuoy at him but he iddn't see it.

Could be drugs or liquor, plus peer pressure, added to that rush of excitement of being independent.

Probably a specific school in a more well off area

We had no trip for my senior year. But for our 6th grade graduation we went to a amusement park

That was really dumb... that only works if you're on a small boat, or even a private yacht... but like... jumping from a cruise ship? for what?!?! he basically committed s-word.
