If you extrapolate this idea to its logical conclusion, you're saying that all homophobia is actually perpetuated by gay people. This is demonstrably false. Most homophobes are straight, and while the self-loathing closet-case is a common trope of homophobia, it is trumped by the number of straights that hate us due to their religion or misogyny (they perceive us as having "betrayed our masculinity" and hate us for that).
