I’m obviously including myself in this. I just find dogs so freaking annoying. Where I leave the lady on the first floor has a dog and it always jumps on me whenever I’m getting in/out of the building. I’ve been living here for two years and that dog always attacks me. That’s why I prefer cats, they’re so much more independent and just keep it to themselves. They have an actual personality and are not just needy creatures like dogs. That’s just my experience, but all my gay friends can’t stand dogs either and have cats. How about you? How true is this gay stereotype?

Dogs are known as a (straight) man’s best friend. Cats are usually associated with women and gays.

I'm definitely more of a dog person. I get it that people complain how clingy, a lot of work, "noisy" or "smelly" dogs are?? But it depends on the owner. I have a German Shepherd and she's disciplined. The only cats I tolerate are Maine Coons (because they're dog-like). And Munchkins because they remind me of Corgis

Yeah you can do more stuff with dogs. But cats are more convenient if you live in a smaller space because they can take care of themselves and don't bark/require exercise. Heck you can even leave them for several days with their own food and litter box and they're gonna be okay. Dogs on the other hand

i try so hard to like dogs but they’re just so annoying  like obviously they’re super sweet and desperate for human love but it’s too much for me, i only like the more chill dogs like a retriever or lab.

cats will always have my heart  and they’re sooo much more sweet and affectionate than (some) dog people realize

 

cats vs dog wars are so funny when ppl get so personal though. dogs are way bigger in the US but i think cats might be more global

OP: love dogs and as a previous cat hater, once I got one I realized that dogs are waaaay too needy, instead when you create a bond with a cat it's like the human needs the cat more  Cats win the IDGAF war

I definitely prefer cats,  And if we’re speaking from a stereotypical standpoint gay men are sometimes less “outdoorsy” than straight men and dogs need a lot more time outside, whether to defecate or exercise. Instead of throwing frisbees and catching tennis balls in the mud outside on hot summer days or cold winter mornings, it’s easier to relax indoors with a cat that mostly takes care of itself and doesn’t even want to bother getting dirty.

 

Thats purely prejudicial though and obviously not rooted in any factual evidence!

Cat person here but love animals in general.

 

I think cats are a lot more self sufficient in general, they don't need a lot of attention and when they do want to play and be affectionate, it makes it more special, kinda like they wanna be pet on their own terms.

 

Overall cats are more matching to my lifestyle and preference.
