atrl Why so many ATRLers don't know that they can delete the threads themselves?

Every new day, I see an another new thread titled “delete” - or threads that have replies such as “mods pls close this”. But you can literally hide/delete the threads yourself by just touching “moderation actions” under the reply button, then clicking hide. 

 

Why most ATRLers are unaware of this? Are they too old now to check how a site functions? Or is the hide thread button overly hidden? Discuss.

Personally I come here to escape the real world and not have to do much thinking. I actually found out about that the other day before opening this thread but I wouldn't have thought we'd even have the option to do that in the first place... and people use pop culture as a distraction so I'd bet there's a lot others like me that just come here to shitpost
