Gay Couple Has To Move Because Of New Laws

Recommended Posts

A youtuber couple made a video which is quite interesting. They are married, and the one in green is a Florida native, that is where they live but the state keeps implementing so many discriminatory laws that they have to move somewhere else.

- Expansion of the don't say gay laws

- Prohibiting non-binary people from using their preferred pronouns

- Restricting abortion access

- Possible implementation of more restrictive immigration laws (the one in white moved to the US from another country)

- Mistreatment from Law enforcement

What do you think about the way the US is changing it's stance on LGBT acceptance?

Gosh, this is all getting so depressing. I can’t believe we’re back to fighting for our rights.

This is all so very sad.

I didn’t watch the entire video but it seems like they’re fortunate enough to have been able to find a way out. Many people won’t be able to.

I hope the state suffers from the loss of good people.

The US isn't changing its stance. It's more liberal than before. Gen Z identifies as non-heterosexual at a 25% rate lol. Nationally, anti trans and LGB laws like book bans are really unpopular.

It's specific to red states right now - but Florida is a particular case because it caters to elderly retirees and the conservative Cuban diaspora.

Florida is a ticking time bomb. Within the next decade they will be completely dependent on the federal gov’t to fund anti-climate disaster efforts all while suppressing human rights left and right.

A lot of people move because of politics in both directions every day. Does it suck? Yes but their story isn't unique and there are far greater tragedies in the world. And frankly, their disagreement with the laws isn't **** compared to actual suffering that people go through on a daily basis. Them making a video looking for sympathy for a decision no one is forcing them to make doesn't do a damn thing and NO they are not victims of ****. Best of luck to both of them.

Are you asking us to sympathize with people who move because their state becomes TOO pro-gay?

Oh Lord here comes Communion with the bullshit again. I didn't even say the word gay, don't start. I'm not asking you to sympathize with anything sis, I'm telling you it works both ways. I'm tired of the oppression Olympics and everyone acting like victims.

This. A lot of those laws don't actually affect them and the title is misleading because they don't HAVE to move. Also, the immigration laws are completely separate from an anti-gay laws, and if you are living in the country illegally, then that will always be an issue you have to deal with.

...Help this is on the page of Stormfront. Bar for bar. :rip: I'm so glad I was able to study this sort of rhetoric in college. Interesting phenomenon.

We’ll be fine. I’m sure the Florida gays will survive with restricted abortion access and pronoun usage.

What do you suggest a gay teacher do when simply mentioning being married is a fireable offense?

That sounds like mis-information dear… source?

10 Tampa Bay: No, Florida teachers are not being told to take down photos of same-sex spouses: https://www.wtsp.com/amp/article/news/verify/florida-teachers-same-sex-spouse/67-0b3de16a-c0e2-46b8-9018-8692d290b551

I explicitly said "mentioning". The link you show reiterates that they've been told discussion is problematic:

Quote

"All teachers are encouraged to keep pictures of their families in the classroom,” according to the clarification provided to the union. “However, in K-3, it was cautioned against specific discussions in the event those discussions could be deemed classroom instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity.”

So again, if someone has a photo up of their husband or wife, and the below is a fireable offense:

  • Student: "Mrs. Smith, who's that lady on your desk?"
  • Teacher: "That's my wife, Toby"
  • Another student:  "Mrs. Smith, how can you have a wife. You're a girl! Don't girls have husbands?"
  • Teacher: "I have a wife because I'm gay"
  • Another student: "What's being gay??"
  • Teacher: "It means I'm a girl who has a wife and not a husband"

How does that not impact gay teachers? And why is this 2 of your first 9 posts? :celestial5:

Why would an abortion ban mean a gay couple has to move?

It's sad but the abortion ban is worse.

Half the population will literally die off and new retirees will have to come to the state to replace them; don't see it happening with these policies

How does one obtain internalized homophobia and hatred this deeply :mazen:

And it's so sad because after vacationing to Miami several years back, I absolutely fell in love with the city to the point of wanting to move close to the area. I've been seeing now, however, that Florida is a place to stay far away from. DeSantis is such a scumbag.
