As some others have stated, I'm worried this might reduce engagement. Part of what made ATRL unique were the GIF & emoji reactions, though maybe this will reduce some of the spammy posts.

My only issue is that it is on the far right of the screen when you use desktop, while all texts are on the far left.  So I'll have to navigate my eyes from left to right with each post if I want to see the reactions. I'll probably get used to it, but still, it's not as easy on the eyes as on mobile.

I'm echoing these mixed opinions. Not sure how to feel about this new development given the nature of ATRL, even though I like the idea of being more easily able to support well-written and insightful comments I agree with.

 

I definitely appreciate that users will know who's liked and/or reacted to a comment - particularly important for moderators when dealing with distasteful posts breaking the community's rules. That's something essential to be kept.

 

As for the reacts themselves, I'd probably keep it limited to the 'like' and the 'thanks/helpful' options. Downvote functions tend to only drive ugly circlejerks, and something tells me the 'Haha' react will serve a similar purpose.

 

Guess we'll have to wait and see how it goes.

Sorry for the double post, but do we have a limited number of likes per day?

 

I was going about reacting like I would on Reddit and suddenly a pop-up message came saying 'you cannot add any more reactions today'. I'm assuming this is likely due to the system still being a work in process and undergoing improvements, right?

Most forums (that I've been on at least) only has like button i think
