Blackthorn Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 Why did people want the Friends Arena or whatever it's called this bad though?

It's MUCH bigger than any of the venues that have hosted in the last 10+ years and it's been pretty difficult to get Eurovision tickets recently due to increased demand. Friends Arena would've made it easier and cheaper to get tickets + Stockholm probably has more to offer in terms of tourist attractions and accommodation than Malmö. The crowd shots during the Melodifestivalen in Friend Arena always look much more impressive than the smaller Eurovision venues

Komet Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 Friends 'Arena' is actually a full stadium with 50.000+ capacity; it's way too massive for an event like eurovision, EBU wouldn't sign off on that. And before you mention MF, they cut the stadium in half for that, and I don't think that kind of 'horizontal' confogiration would work for ESC Malmo was excpected but it's still a flop. I guess it has a chance to redeem the cheap-ass 2013
abelfenty Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 Why was anyone expecting the Friends Arena? It’s capacity is like over 3x the usual size of the venues they normally host in
bjorn Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 Isn’t Taylor Swift playing in Friends those exact dates?
Gogetonthebus Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 As long as they don't repeat the cheap, rickety Next Top Model finale staging from 2013, I'll be okay with this. The prices are going be....
Beautiful Garbage Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 Just when a close friend of mine decided to move out of Copenhagen before the end of the year.
Solaria Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 2013 looked really cheap but I think they learned from it and theyre gonna do their best to make it look expensive asf
Fevesy Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 https://eurovoix.com/2023/07/19/eurovision-2024-norway-plans-to-propose-new-voting-system/ Norway is set to propose a new voting system for the Eurovision Song Contest, where juries account for a lower percentage of the overall points. Stig Karlsen, Norway’s Head of Delegation, revealed that he believes his country will ask the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to decrease the weight of the jury’s votes to give the public more power in deciding the contest. In a wide-ranging interview with Szűcs Viktor on the Eurovíziós Podcast, Karlsen said he felt that public interest in Eurovision would wane if songs that performed well in the televote failed to win the competition. As a result, he feels the weight of the jury’s vote should be reduced to 40%, or even 30%, of the overall score. - Now I'm all in favor of the televoting having a bit more sway but it's hilarious coming from Norway kjdfhgkdjgdfg

The jury needs to be reformed from within, not how much their points weigh. 10 jury members with diverse backgrounds
Paola Bracho Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Not the jury winner doing more that the rest of the top 10 combined!

How anyone can see the entries we got from You Decide and think we should go back to a NF is beyond me. Internal selection is the way forward for us
