Archetype Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 All the MET Gala needs to do is make it more exclusive again and stop inviting random influencers. It’s not supposed to be as big as the Oscars or Coachella, it’s a fundraiser for the most important museum in the US. People are always going to donate and show up.
Reginald Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 Met Gala, although I would much rather attend there than Coachella. Spending days in the desert heat peer pressured into partying, all so I can stand a mile away from the main stage What's not to love about that concept?

Feanor Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 Last year's Met Gala was the biggest to date in terms of money raised, Google searches (globally & domestically) and other online engagement. So I'd say Coachella.
midnightdawn Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 They were killed off by the pandemic. But I think they were going to be fads anyway. Met Gala was choosing bad themes, celebrities were coming dressed as whatever they wanted, it was losing it's exclusivity and becoming a tacky garish mess. Coachella just seemed like another popular music festival that people would tire of in a few years.
Gui Blackout Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 Yall say everything is irrelevant nowadays yet yall keep talking about said things
Young Volcanoes Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 metgalla because normal people will eventually stop caring what some rich snobs wear on a red carpet
Homebrand Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 Isn't Coachella basically just an Instagram fest of who has the tackiest outfits?
Jotham Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 Coachella. Even though some of the recent themes have been a bit stale, the Met Gala is still fun to discuss on social media.
Machete Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 I don't think Met Gala has become irrelevant, in fact I think it has become more relevant. Even if we aren't getting iconic looks, the discourse around the outfits gets bigger and bigger each year. Coachella tanked hard this year though. Little to no noise.

M.R. Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 Pandemic (the negativity effects aside) really showed that we don’t need any of these rich people propping each other gatherings anymore. Pointless award shows should be canceled as well.
Wonderland Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 I think the branding of Coachella has changed if that makes sense? It doesn't really feel like the event it used to be.
P.O.P Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 Coachella was always local. Met Gala had almost Oscar's type of hype at one point, so it is having a bigger nosedive. Literally no1curr.
