I was watching this Whitney Houston performance of the National Anthem and I think, for me, this is the best vocal performance I’ve ever heard.

It was prerecorded in the studio. She then sang along to the recording on that podium, but into a dead microphone.

 

It’s a mandatory procedure for very formal national anthem events. But still, not live.

But Gaga did it live twice. 1 at the same event and the other was even more formal, for the president.

 

To answer the OP, it must be sth from Mariah. As much as I adore Whitney as a vocalist, Mariah always has the edge when it comes to range (not just in terms of vocal range but how she can use her voice in different ways which is untouchable and out of this world).

My personal favourite  made me religious for a moment

That performance of Vanishing from Mariah is just  that part at the end when she switched from swift melismas to belting to whistle notes in 1 breath is impeccable

My favorite. This is breathtakingly perfect. The insane amount of YouTube reaction videos to this performance can attest to its quality.
