Then you should have specified both, otherwise it implies you think one is less worse or is not insane

the sub seems a bit unhinged tbh.

The teacher was aggressive as hell from the beginning before the 1st swing, she should be fired since she cant keep her cool and she initiated the fight tbh:rip:

The kid should be kicked out, shouldn't have gotten yourself in that situation & also swung 1st on the teacher(even though the teacher initiated it by shoving.) Be smarter with using your phone in class on the low or just follow the rules:cm:

I'm pretty sure the context is different since we're giving a reaction to a video of two ppl fighting. :rip:

But sorry for misinterpreting your post

I stand with the teacher. Sure violence isn't the answer but these kids really be acting stupid thinking there won't be repercussions for their actions. And people wonder why there is a teacher shortage happening and only getting worse. Low wages, disrespectful kids, little to no appreciation for literally raising the next generation

As a substitute teacher, and as someone who has taught, subbed, and had experience working with children that have issues regulating their emotions-- and it very well could be this student is just poorly behaved-- I am not only embarrassed but mortified by how this teacher handled the situation.

In education, at least where I live, we are taught to de-escalate any conflict as much as possible. People need to remember minors are not (cognitively) fully developed, so they are more than likely going to act on impulse and think before they act. Of course, this is where teaching happens. Teachers should be expected to manage their students, so that their students can effectively manage their behaviors. Since they're not adults, they obviously won't have the mental maturity adults have, but they should at least know basic etiquette, politely asking for requests, being a diligent worker, etc.

Putting your hands on a student is so traumatizing and inappropriate for so many reasons, and the fact that this teacher was incessantly injuring this student is so terrible. I'm not sure if she was a sub or a teacher, but at the very least, she should be blacklisted from the district she works in and have her teaching license revoked. This is assault-- plain and simple.

I get it-- kids can be a LOT. I have had kids call me the worst names imaginable, threaten to put their hands on me (fortunately, they never did), and other annoying behaviors. But you never, ever put your hands on a kid. And you never stoop to their level.

If de-escalation doesn't work, you have the student step outside, possibly have mom/dad called while another teacher is available, or write them a pass to their counselor. If all these don't work THEN you can call security. But what this woman did is seriously out of line.

I am aware we are just seeing a snippet of what happened, but there is no proper context to excuse this woman's horrible and traumatic decision-making. I am disgusted.

I did and she slapped the teacher which made her drop the phone.

She reached around at a different part. She kept trying to grab the phone from the teacher and reached around and the teacher pushed her arm and said “don’t touch me” and then the student swung on the teacher and got dragged. If you think the teacher pushing her arm was her ‘hitting first’ then go off! But the student clearly got violent first.

The student needs to be expelled for the year and put into counseling.

The teacher should be fired.

surprised to see people are defending the teacher. she clearly escalated the situation, which was wrong. teaching is a stressful job but at the end of the day it is her responsibility as an adult to de-escalate the situation, which she failed to do. the teacher also wasn't just defending herself, she was clearly beating the student up. about as unprofessional as it gets.
