Talented acts with bad music?

Featured Replies

Who are some girlies who have everything it takes and all their industry ducks in a row, but never can release quality music or just fall short compared to their talents? It seems to not be a totally uncommon issue.

The quality of Gaga's music was watered down with Chromatica and i can't picture her climbing back in to her glory dance pop days.

ChungHa comes to mind. She had one AMAZING album and everything before and after comes off as extremely forced. Chloe is obviously a recent example too. Unfortunately it happens a lot to talented POC singers that are given next to nothing to work with by their teams.

Demi. I don't even like her that much but what she is missing is a album that would really make good use of her vocals (like Xtina's B2B)

Unpopular opinion: Whitney Houston, her discography is pretty mid outside My Love Is Your Love album.

I just thought of them when you posted this. The perfect example. Not even Scooter Braun and all theirr pity press campaigns can right that sinking ship :deadbanana4:

forgot their pronouns dont crucify me pls

Christina Aguilera for me. Very middling and chaotic discography which has some highlights of course but isn’t up to par with her talent at all.

inb4 Lovatics starts quoting us with the last two albums

like we got Smoke & Mirrors and then GONE

Katy Perry. She has an amazing voice but sadly her music is bland.

Her music really isn't bad specifically but I've always felt like Tori Kelly could've have been so much more successful with the right material

Christina Aguilera. She probably could have lasted longer and been more successful if her music was better.

I'd say B2B is her best album and even that could have been cut in half.

Weren't both of these heavily sabotaged though? I'm more talking about people who have every advantage and are held back by the music itself, not overshadowed by previous peaks or prevented from success by my backhanded fav

Then I'd say Tori Kelly.

This is exactly what I meant about Katy. I meant her entire music, not just her latest one.

in all honesty? Ariana has a good amount of bad music

sure she has some great hits under her belt, and Dangerous Woman and Sweetener both have a few killer album tracks each. but the majority of her album tracks throughout her discography are on the weaker side of pop music. many of her songs are nowhere near befitting of her talents :katie: please give us more Be Alrights, and less Make Ups!

I kinda agree honestly

some of her early hits are brilliant—if not a bit dated/endearingly cheesy—though

Taylor Swift. She’s a phenomenal singer, no one doubts that, but to me her music still seems quite one dimensional to me… I’m hoping she puts out something in the vein of Daisies soon with her next album. I want to stan!
