Which meds./drugs do you dislike and which meds. do you love?

I thought this would be a fun question to ask since most of us have been medicated or medication at some point in our lives, and knowledge is power. Maybe if you had a good experience with medications/drugs, others can ask their doctors about them if their current meds aren't working! You could also talk about liking a drug when it "kicked" in, and to share your experiences so people know what to expect with new meds! :)

I'll go first:

I dislike Lexapro. I was on 10mg, and couldn't even make it through the first two days :rip:. I was horribly nauseous, anxiety was through the roof, etc. Quit cold-turkey-- big mistake, but my side effects were even worse than those two days LOL Another time I tried 5mg and while I didn't feel anxious, I felt so brain foggy and cracked out of my mind. No thanks. Also, on both doses, I could not ejaculate.

I dislike alcohol. This is obviously a drug-drug and not a medication, but I never liked having to drink to the point where it's fun-- I always get headaches and/or hangovers the next day. Also, I gained so much weight. Lord have mercy lol

I dislike antacid-meds like Protonix/Famotidine/Pepcid/Tums. They constipated the hell out of me & they decrease the level of acid in your stomach.

love Zoloft. Yes, the side effects are wonky-- especially going up a dose-- and I'm still working towards that 4-6 week mark, but I rather take some nausea/anxiety than the alternative of being anxious ALL the time and EVERYWHERE. I was on this last year & by the 6 week-mark, most side effects went away and I went, "Holy ****. Is this how normal people think/live?"

love Xanax/Klonopin/Valium. Be careful with these-- these can be addictive. But if you take them bc your doctor is prescribing them & you follow your dosing instructions, you should be fine. No withdrawals when I don't take these bc I don't over-dose or take these for recreational value. They just do wonders in panic attacks.

I’ve always been self medicating with weed to help with my anxiety, but with me being a long time weed user for 7+ years now with minimal 1 week breaks since, do you think I should talk to my doctor about trying Zoloft?

Alcohol worst thing ever created. Weed >>>

Is this allowed? I love Xanax, specially with a little bit of caffeine. I rarely take it tho, maybe two times a week and a super low dose. I actually split the tablet in like 8 little pieces.

Of the things that I’ve tried Adderal is the only one that serves. I feel happier, more talkative, my whole mind is just more positive about everything. The downfall of it is that I wake up with a painful jaw from my teeth grinding all night.

Shrooms, cocaine and weed are boring imo

It wouldn't hurt! Just mention your weed use and any other drugs/supplements you take to see if it's safe to take. I have a med. card & Zoloft, my doctor knows, and says it's okay! But everyone's different.

Weed is hit-or-miss. Now that I'm on Zoloft, it's not anxiety-inducing, but sometimes it makes my pain worse (ironically). It has to be a good day for me to bust out the pen lol

Interesting! I have anxiety, so Adderall would probably give me a stroke :rip: Do you take it recreationally or as prescribed? No judgement; just curious.

I'm also not a fan of the psychoactive stuff lol

Shrooms are without a doubt the best thing I’ve ever tried.

Nothing will ever top a blunt, personally.

I quit alcohol, cigarettes and weed 5 years ago and my life has never been better. I started taking care of my sleep routine, my meals and I started working out. That and some plant extract supplements for serotonin enhancement

OP could you describe your anxiety before taking Zoloft, during the set-in phase, and after it starts working?

I have anxiety and seem to be managing with CBT so far but have felt stagnant the past few weeks. Was wondering if an SSRI would be worth it?

I have anxiety and seem to be managing with CBT so far but have felt stagnant the past few weeks. Was wondering if an SSRI would be worth it?

From last year:

I actually took Zoloft for depression. Around week 3-4 I noticed I felt a bit more confident and side effects dissipated. Week 4 I felt like "hey, this is starting to work." Week 6 it was amazing. Decrease in depression and moderate anxiety I had at the time.

From this year:

I'm really taking Zoloft for anxiety, but I'm also dealing with depression. I've been on Zoloft one week (25mg) and I had major fatigue and muscle pain at the beginning. Towards end of the week that went away. I'm half-way done with being on Zoloft (50mg) and side effects are definitely more intense (which is typical for dosage increases). Nausea and anxiety (but strangely not as bad as before the med.), but if I take my anti-nausea and benzo, I'm fine for the rest of the day.

My hope is for that 6 week mark to hit and I don't have to keep taking my benzo/anti-nausea meds to curb those side effects.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

As for drugs, I’ve only tried weed and alcohol. I can endure alcohol from time to time but I don’t prefer to drink because I feel gross the day after.

I have ADHD so I’ve been self medicating with weed for about 2,5 years now. I’ve liked it for a long time but I find myself lately not enjoying it as much anymore as it has become rather a habit than something recreational and fun. Also gave me pretty bad anxiety for a week some time back which has made me more cautious.

As for meds, I’ve tried Ritalin and Vyvanse for my ADHD but I had a negative experience with both but honestly that had more to do with my personal mindset, I was taking them very irregularly. I wanna start off with a clean slate when it comes to med use

Of what I've tried:

Weed: great buT easy to rely on and it oftentimes makes me feel groggy afterwards. Even if I take part of a gummy (4-8 mg) in the late afternoon, I can still feel zoned out for a few hours the next day. I've been more proactive about my usage and am toying with taking semi-regular week-long breaks.

Alcohol: Fun in moderation, but not a ton else. A cocktail after work on the lanai is lovely, still drunk the day after is embarrassing.

Shrooms: GOAT. I rarely do them, and honor them when I do, but the experiences I've had have helped me start to change my life for the better after years of helplessness.

Meth: There's a reason people get addicted to it. Not just because the euphoria is genuinely pretty great and long-lasting, but because the crash can be unbearable and makes you want more. I've dabbled out of curiosity and don't think it's worth it.

I got addicted to pain meds a few years ago and didn't even realize I was addicted :deadbanana2:

I really liked them, and yeah.. so I've not been on pain meds in a long time because obviously there was a problem happening.

I have also drank alcohol and honestly? I hate it. I've not had any alcohol that I like. I don't like the taste. Probably for the best, because my Dad is an alcoholic nd it runs in my family. Pretty sure my cousin is on the verge of alcoholism.

I have been on Lexapro too and yeah while it helped me with anxiety I had no interest in sex and it was hard to ejaculate. Never again
