Should Katy have released Black Widow for herself?

Although I love Rita's vocals on the chorus, this could've been an easy smash for Katy and I don't see it being too similar to Dark Horse except for the theme maybe. :jonny5:

Should Katy have released this for herself?

No because it is too similar to Dark Horse and it would have flopped. Instead she has a classic smash hit and big royalties from Black Widow being a hit

No, she didn't have the range

The range for what exactly? It's not exactly a vocally demanding or artistic song :rip:

Yes.

1. Roar

2. Dark Horse

3. Walking on Air

4. Black Widow

5. Legendary Lovers (feat. Drake)

6. Unconditionally

SMASH era.

It is way too similar to Dark Horse, not sure why you say it’s not when it’s literally The same thing with different beats, melody and lyrics….

The range to making it a good song :giraffe:

I personally think it’s too similar to Dark Horse, so I can see why she didn’t release it.

this and Get On Your Knees (feat. Nicki Minaj) the dark era we could've gotten :jonny3:

This is what we deserved

ot: yes

Would've been too similar to Dark Horse and would've copped criticism for that. But it would have worked if she featured on the song with Iggy instead of Rita

It's very similar to Dark Horse, but would probably have been another hit for her at that time. Prism should have had a re-release in late 2014 with new songs, that would have helped keep her on radio and with the GP into 2015, which would have made the gap between Prism and Witness less which ultimately hurt her.

I think it’s too similar to Dark Horse for her. She should’ve kept her feature on Get On Your Knees.

Yeah, but she had to drop it after Russell's divorce, easy her 10th #1.

From Black Widow to Roar and then Dark Horse... :jonny:

it would've been a hit but it wouldn't have changed the trajectory of her career

idc if it was too similar to Dark Horse, this was her last chance to get another hit, i would've keep it but what do i know

This. It was either Black Widow or Dark Horse, and I think she kept the right song for Prism. :clap3:

Too similar to Dark Horse and sometimes when songs are recycled from past ones they flop.
For example Ariana rehashing Problem with Focus. Gaga rehashing Bad Romance with Judas. :gaycat4:
