discussion Are you still friends with anyone from elementary, middle or highschool?

I bumped into a girl I was friend with in middle school 7th, 8th grade, while filling my gas at Costco. I got her number and we caught up, but I could read the room and tell she didn't wanna hang out or catch up, from what she told me she only keeps in touch with like 2 people from middle school, so I guess in a sense everyone moved on. Still makes me sad though, we were all friends at one point. I rather not think about it cause it makes me get all emo, we all moved on in life and I know that's suppose to happen but it's still sad.

In my heart they will always be my friends and ill always remember those days :/

I think college was when I really came into my own and my friendships felt more organic and less based on proximity, so I made more of an effort to maintain those friendships

Not really, sadly. I still have many of them as contacts on social media (mostly from high school) but that's about it. It was always difficult maintain relationships anyway since my family constantly moved to different states.

 

I do miss them though. I have zero interest in staying in touch with people from middle school but I miss my elementary and high school classmates a lot.

I'm friendly with them, like I feel like I could reach out to them and catch up and pick up where we left off, but my actual friends I talk to regularly are from college or after college.

Still friends with my elementary school friends, mainly because we grew up in the same neighborhood and we because more like siblings than friends. We have a group chat where we laugh and talk **** daily.

Friendly with 1 from elementary, I occasionally dm another few from elementary/high school. But all my friends nowadays who I keep regular contact with mostly from college, or others that I met from when I moved out onto my own post-college

Yes, majority of the students went to two different elementary schools, the same middle and high school, as they were all next to each other. Some of us were part of "The 13 year club"

My closest friends are all people I’ve known since I was like 13 or 14, and I’m 26 now. So yeah, about 8 or 9 friends from middle and high school.

honestly... I have a good amount of mutuals on instagram with whom I went to grade school. I'm not close to anyone I went to school with, but I'm very close with people I met DURING those years. for example, I met one of my best friends in September 2012, when I was in tenth grade and she was in eighth grade, and we're very close to this day BUT we never went to the same school. she ended up dropping out of high school right from the get go and eventually got her GED. I met another one of my best friends (she's kinda my soulmate lol) when I was just about to graduate high school, but we were never at the same school! we met in the DIY indie punk music scene. idk. all my closest friends never went to school with me EXCEPT for a few college friends. but I'm definitely someone who has a few core friends and then a constantly shifting external circle of friends. I've had a few college friends who came and went, and I've had a few random people I've met on the street come and go as well. I would say I am acquaintances with many people from grade school, but i'm not close friends with any at the moment no

Yes, I met my best friend in middle school and we've been besties ever since. I also keep in touch with a couple of other friends from middle school, and I'm friendly with some from elementary.

 

As for high school, all my girl friends I've met them there. I guess it's a bit different for Europe because (at least in Italy) we don't switch classes, we're with the same 20 people for the whole day, and for 5 years.

Nope. My best friend from high school got married and changed her last name so I’ll never find her, but I’m fine with that.

Nope, my best friend from high school passed after operation went wrong 2 years ago. Others are just a "hi, how's it going?" type of deal.

I have a couple of real friendships from high school still going. Many more of them are lingering connections with people from when social media first took off, during high school,  but I haven't posted in years and we don't talk privately.
