Yeah this is bullshit. People will try AI and after a few attempts they will realize that it's not really enough. AI is here to help us professionally, not compete with us.

AI is here to be used by the ruling class, not to “help” the average person. You don’t think AI is going to be used to exploit workers, create government propaganda the likes of which we’ve never seen, and separate humans from the creative process? It’s going to be insane what AI is capable of within the next decade, and fears are not unfounded.

This is legitimately scary. Imagine being made redundant because AI can do your job. Literally where do you go from there? :rip:

You just learn new skills! /s

Seriously, whole sectors are going to be decimated by this, but let’s just act like everything’s fine.

the best thing anyone working a corporate job can do right now is bust your ass to GET PROMOTED. you need to be in a role that requires strategy, human touch, and good judgment.

if your day-to-day is mostly about data entry, answering emails, taking phone calls, writing copy, or writing code, you need to grow into a more strategic role to not get laid off in the next year.

I think people in here are underselling it. It will be more like the invention of fire than the invention of the computer

ai will inevitably decide that the earth is better off without humans and it will kill us all

It’s over

all of this concern is only valid because we live under capitalism and the ruling class' generosity at the end of the day

I don't want to be annoying but the people in here screaming just ADAPT!!1!!! are really ******* out of touch and simply lack any empathy for people who don't have the means to just learn new skills!!!! as y'all are putting it, you don't know how much priviledge you have to have to be typing this kind of **** in here, honestly :biblio:

jobs ARE getting erased, corporations do not give a single **** about putting people in the street, profit matters above all else in the system we live in

if that was not the case this kind of thing would be seen under a different light, automation could actually aleviate some of the work we do, but capitalism does not work like that, under it automation IS a valid reason to be fearful of your job because it will be gone sooner or later, it's just a matter of time and some of y'all are refusing to see the issue in all of this, but when it happens to you y'all will be singing a different tune, I bet :coffee2:

This Is Fine Fire GIF - This Is Fine Fire House GIFs

the system is BROKEN, there's no reforming it, we need to get rid of it altogether for another alternative (and yes they ******* EXIST!!!!!)

I literally just had a stroke and had to leave the corporate world… I’ve been living with my parents for years cause I need 24/7 care. Before? I was one of the top 10 art directors in the world. If you don’t have talent, creativity, personality and hard work ethic, you’re over basically. What’s left is genuine humanity and being a great person with talent and if you haven’t got that… 💀💀💀

Scary. And everyone is scared, everyone I know anyway. I wish we could all go back to 2021 and nuke this ****. Just stop it. Honestly? All I care about now is art, my family and love. You can’t replace those things with a machine. I care about people, not machines. And I think people don’t get that human connection will never be outsold by a machine. Ever.

Ignorance is bliss. Humans are dumb as **** for inventing this ****. How about we give people with dreams and ambition jobs instead of trying to cut corners financially. This whole world is ******* backwards dude. The creative process and collaboration and connection with others is what makes life worth living. But these dumb ass emotionless men building these things have zero taste or talent - apart from making stupid **** like for another man made invention: money. Thank **** I’m not like these men. 💀💀💀

The system is so broken if this is your solution. :rip:

As a computer scientist that is working on research in Large Language Models (which is what ChatGPT is), I am so exhausted of the overblown hype around ChatGPT. It’s not “intelligent”. It is just good at imitating text it has seen on the Internet. The text it generates isn’t something thoughtfully put together in the way many people think it is.

I’m not convinced of this 300 million number to the effect of it eliminating that many jobs. Will AI impact countless jobs, sure. But Microsoft Word did the same thing. As did online file sharing systems like Google Drive and email. It is perfectly reasonable to maintain a healthy dose of concern about AI. But blindly thinking strong AI that can replace us all is here already really only helps make it a self-fulfilling prophecy because people will buy into an illusion rather than the real deal.

I've been talking to a lot of people at work (tech company) about this, and the general consensus seems to be the same... If AI were used for education and to improve the human experience, it would be a welcome addition to life. Capitalism will cause this to become an absolute nightmare. The class divide, I think, will become more and more severe as a result. I just have to wonder what the end goal is of the creators and the rich. Like... who is going to be buying your products if you don't have employed people bc you've replaced them with AI?  :)

:bibliahh:Ever since I made this, it’s just being proven right how A.I has already effected major industries. even Hollywood is concern. Less then 2 months and it’s got people

Shook. It’s only gonna get more threatening this Summer when jobs are replaced and unemployment rises.

Thank God I live in a country where they still rely on Fax Machines :giraffe: So I know this won't affect me personally.

You guys are literally acting like the stupid boomers that thought computers and telephones would be the end of society because they affected phone operators and typing professionals 40 years ago. Yeah, people those prefessions were killed, but that was for the best.

the difference with AI is that it will eventually become so advanced it will be able to mimic most human professions, not just change some mechanics like our computers do. you are absolutely underestimating it, AI can already do so many things and it's just the beginning. imagine where AI will be in 20 years time... like the AI we're talking about now is still primitive. the technology is in its infancy, but once the ball gets rolling it will be a huge, transformative change for society

Why not illegalize the use of artificial intelligence before it's too late?

Posted (edited)

Natural disasters such as drought are causing starvation of thousands in places of Africa from time to time. Why does not science do anything about that but focus on this AI ****?

Pff please. It is 2023, even newspapers/radio still exist. Some people can do **** on ATM machines, they need some person to help them at the bank.

AI might take over...someday. But I don't think we will see it.
