not sure I agree with the precedent set here but its probably for the best as those threads have become redundant

the same discourse will be able to happen in other threads though (trans women in sports threads etc)

Why is this controversial? It's a privately-owned forum and banning further discussion on a topic that is both harmful and gives a platform for hate speech towards members of our own community (LGBTQ) is a good choice.

Oh, also, for those saying "don't silence the discussions!" Discussions revolving around this topic have happened for years on this forum and have devolved into harmful stereotypes and fear mongering each time regardless of the intent of the topic creator.

Censorship is more harmful than any topic by itself. For every topic there's gonna be all kinds of opinions, and the only civilized way of reasoning about it is through discussion.

No one is saying you can’t discuss trans issues…just specifics involving JK Rowling’s bigotry.

There is literally nothing civilized about the “discussions” with transphobes in these threads. Banning a topic on a privately owned forum is not censorship, and furthermore is entirely understandable given the continued and increasingly insidious hateful speech and transphobia on a site that has a predominantly LGBTQ+ membership. You want to talk about JK? Cool, you literally have the entire internet to do so :rip:

Every ******* time @Headlock:skull:

It’s so utterly predictable :rip: Members whining about “any slight disagreement” over trans issues always turns into them having a post history with blatant transphobia :deadbanana4:

This is exactly the type of person I was referring to.

You are THIS because you don’t agree with me 100%. It doesn’t matter even if there are plenty of trans-people who have a similar viewpoint. My opinion is law, therefore you have committed blasphemy.

I mean it’s not like the mods are banning all threads about transphobia/transphobic people

JK Rowling constantly spreads hate, no need to make threads for everytime she speaks :celestial4:

Not you equating the banning of hate speech around one specific person with the banning of pro-LGBTQ messaging :deadbanana4: :deadbanana4:

Y’all are gonna both-sides yourselves into a black hole :rip:

Censorship works both ways, if we don't want our beliefs to be shut down, we should be able to listen to the counterpart

It actually doesn't work that way, because the "counterpart" to LGBTQ+ rights and acceptance is virulent bigotry, hatred, and violence. Those "beliefs" are flat out incorrect. The basic rights of a group of human beings isn't something that is up for debate :rip:

That’s so extra, like there aren’t a bunch of other homophobes and transphobes in the industry :toofunny3:
