James_Dean Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Spotify>>>>> AM's music queuing function is a disaster amongst other unfriendly UI functions compared to Spotify.
ariesgroove Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 i have apple music, i do have a spotify account but i barely use it. apple music’s biggest perk imo is the library and sound quality. people in the thread have said am’s interface feels clunky but i honestly feel that way with spotify’s. ultimately, it just depends on which factor you care about most (cost, quality, etc.) but i’m team apple music
Navy4Life Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 I just couldn’t go back to that horrible sound quality. It sounds much worse with AirPods Pro, let alone the good quality headphones I use when home.

I've been enjoying it very much and the Year in Music on the app isn't bad either. Also, they release seasonal playlists with your most listened as well. The only downside so far is that the general playlists aren't as good as Spotify and there are no sites for you to keep track of your listening habits frequently. But I do think the "radio" section on Youtube music is better for some reason I can't quite point out. YouTube music for the win.

I’ve tried to transition to see how much “better” these playlists are but it’s one of the situations where I was just so used to one thing to bother with another. They both serve the same purpose, but a downgrade in quality IS NOT worth the transition overall. The playlists on AM are fine. It knows what I like and isn’t as ad driven. Been an AM user since they launched and they have made so many improvements to their interface; these days it doesn't even resemble what it used to be; I don't understand why so many people complain. Plus AM's design is so much better?
awong918 Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 I had 6 months of AM free and I still switched back to Spotify. AM experience on desktop is HORRID.
Starshine Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Spotify's sound quality is just horrid that I cannot just go back despite the superior algorithms. I also have an iPhone and Mac, so there's no point.
ATRL Moderator Azulito Posted March 27, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted March 27, 2023 Try YouTube Music. It’s apart of Premium which means no ads, background listening, and download capabilities on Youtube. It’s easily the best deal especially at the student price 2 hours ago, Sni2 said: I've been using Youtube Music since Joni Mitchell and Neil Young retracted their music from Spotify because they are relevant to my playlists and general listening habits. bync Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 i really wanna move to spotify, but not until they release high fidelity audio
Zaram Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Not sure about your country, but Spotify offers student discount for my country too.
babyforlife Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Using both of them. What annoyed me when using AM is song that got added to a playlist often not showed up or not being added at all to that playlist, plus its only works on mobile devices which is less convenient. I love listening to music with my AndroidTV, Spotify wins everything except about the Sound Quality and UI (AM is prettier but more complicated).

Their app runs smoothly, everything is easy, convenient, and smooth. But yeah.. the sound quality isn’t it. Apple Music has MUCH MUCH MUCH better sound quality it’s insane. Like I actually get upset at how bad Spotify’s is in comparison. But everything else about Apple Music is rather clunky and annoying. it’s a tough choice between interface and quality. When i had my 3 months Apple Music for free i felt like i had to listen to all my music again cause it sounded so much better. But somehow i ended up staying with Spotify But i get you. It's crazy...
sh0ckw4ves Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 I think Apple Music is nicer/simpler to use, and I love the library management compared to Spotify which is basically just 'liked songs' but it's sooooo slow and sometimes I'll have to add songs to playlists multiple times before they actually show up, it can be really buggy. But the absolute 1 thing I will not swap back to AM to until they add it is the 'handover' feature. Using your phone as a remote to control what's on the TV for example, or your computer, speaker, etc. and change which device it's coming from instantly is sooooo good. Airplay does not work as well as the handover feature on Spotify.
iknowplaces Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 I'm happy with YT Music because autoplay is not filled with payola and it's more dynamic than Spotify. It's also a plus that I can listen to unreleased and noghtcore/sped up/slowed etc songs that are on YouYube.
Whore of Babylon Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 i'll think about switching to AM when they combine music and podcasts, it's a hassle switching between apps. plus you can't beat spotify playlisting.
the good guy_duh Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 AM is superior imo. The sound quality it's what should matter at the end of the day. And the difference is THERE. Howerer, I'm still using Spotify when on PC, it's a bit easier to access and the app is more fun to navigate.
touchofmyhand Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 (edited) Apple Music for Dolby Atmos alone. It has lossless streaming too. Lots of exclusive live performances, interviews, better radio stations, music videos. The UI is personal but I prefer it over Spotify’s as well. Edited March 27, 2023 by touchofmyhand
Janet Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Apple Music forever Can't believe I've been using it for over 6 years now
Bicassie Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Apple Music for phone/headphones spotify free for PC and will switch back fully to spotify when high fidelity is there
OhMyAlf Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Apple Music all the way for me, obviously the higher quality music/atmos are an instant winner, but it's just the little things for me like how is Spotify that popular but has god awful quality photos on artists pages baffles me My friend who has both said it best, Spotify is for people who just want to make playlists and shuffle their music. AM is better for people who like to build and make a more personal music library that's theirs to organise.
beautiful player Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Spotify is awful. I accidentally clicked on one NSFW podcast once and on a Joe Rogan episode, and now it won't stop showing me those on my front page. No matter what. There's no way to delete it. Stop forcing these god damn podcasts down our throats.
toy soldier. Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Other than quality, AM library organisation is miles better than Spotify which just gives you either liked songs or full albums section. Algorithm is so much better in Spotify but i can find new music in other ways
