Is hearing "I apologize for the inconvenience" helpful or comforting in any way?

I always felt like it was an f u and slap in the face but in a nice way.. Do you ever say it to customers at your job?

It's a polite way of saying I'm sorry, although sometimes it doesn't solve the issue at hand :rip:

what’s even worse is that apologies have become SO textbook nowadays in order to cause the least amount of offence, that they now seem so robotic and calculated

thats confusing but what i mean is there were so many viral videos and posts a few years ago explaining how to properly apologise , stuff like ‘don’t say im sorry that you’re offended, say im sorry i offended you!’ ‘acknowledge the issue you’ve created’ etc

so i have friends now and whenever they apologise to me it’s like they’re following a 5 step rulebook on how to properly apologise from tiktok or tumblr .. it makes it devoid of any emotion imo

sorry for the rant i forgot what the actual question was

Its only comforting if they HELP you fix your problem but most of the time they say that just to shut you up. :skull:

I say thank them for waiting instead when I used to work customer service. But now I work at the hospital where I’m needed urgently, I started apologizing
