the nerve of that user calling bigotry a "respectful opinion"

I said "respectfully express their opinion." There are also many people who support trans people's personhood and rights, who also recognize that the women's competitive sports issue is deeply nuanced and complex with no easy answers. There is a way to have differing views on a tough topic and express that view respectfully without attacking or demeaning anyone's identity and existence. Sadly, there are bigots who use the women's sports issue to channel their hatred for trans people, but I don't feel that describes the vast majority (or anyone) on here in this discussion.

i apologize for the misquote.  with that being said, if people were only

respectfully expressing their opinions , this thread would look

different.

i don't consider people cheering about pervasive transphobia

to be respectfully expressing their opinions, especially when

said users continue going on transphobic tirades while

multiple users have provided legitimate receipts about how

the "biological advantage" point has been refuted by

medical professionals.

This is fair, they should compete in their own category.

These past 5 years are gonna look so BAD 20yrs from now.

Actual brainrot and reactionary politics running rampant and it's all because we failed to do basic biology and sociology right. We have millions of adults who are actually dumb as nails acting like doctors and scientists parroting youtubers and swallowing fox news segments.

It's hard being someone who isn't a dummy, god knows what people who are living proof against the lies feel.

Women's sports which literally these very same men made fun of for eons is now a faux concern for men who laugh at female athletes to this day. Minions of regression and bad politics the lot of them.

It makes sense given the biological advantage. Serena Williams summed it up well here.

So you're saying tranwomen are men?

The statistics don't lie, the few active transwomen aren't dominating female sports. At all.

no one said that trans women aren't women

the point is that trans women have an advantage over biological women in sports and that's a fact based on biology and not on your feelings

The sport debate is the one trans issue where I don't think there's an clear, easy solution (compared to everything else where the solution is just leave trans people alone and mind your business). Someone who has gone through a male puberty shouldn't be competing against a biological woman in most sports. The physical difference is apparent in High School, much less at the professional/Olympic level.

People say "have their own league" but obviously there aren't enough trans atheles to warrant that (or warrant pursuing a ban at all, lbr)

Excluding trans women from sports based on BS "science" is transphobic. See my other comments. This never boils down to anything other than a targeted attack on trans women and their rights.

So only trans women and their rights matter in sports?

So you’re saying we should work towards expanding access to gender-affirming healthcare to trans youth so they will be eligible to compete in their chosen sports if so desired?

Oh wait :isudumblmao:

It was a general statement to that hypocrisy, not towards you.

It is very clear that 98% of you have no clue about genetics and biology.....a fair decision...also most of trans woman do not carry any genetic anomalies such as XXY, X0, XXX and whatever...these are extremely rare, and I mean EXTREMELY rare.....most of trans women are biologically XY and that gives them a major advantage... also genotype is not the same as fenotype, but these might be term too difficult to understand for the basic twitter PC biatch

Being in support or not supporting fair competition in a competitive scenario does not make someone transphobic or not. People should really stop labeling everything as -phobic just because it goes against a narrative.

the narrative in question is rooted in transphobia. i’m not throwing out the word.

if the several posts detailing the transphobia surrounding the sports debate didn’t help you understand that, i don’t know what will.

how is it fair that an entire demographic of women are barred from something as mundane as sports because of outdated and/or false rhetoric that goes against science?

the same rhetoric that also harms cis women who don’t meet the criteria?

i wish people would stop framing those defending trans athletes as bad faith actors just to avoid addressing their own biases.

Can all the men in this thread please raise their hand? IMO only women should be able to have an opinion on this topic

I absolutely agree.

This “before puberty” stipulation should be looked at now that many states are banning transitioning to minors.

its almost like….it’s intentional….

If there's no biological differences according to that one users, then why would sport be would separated by genders?

If that's the case, lets just freaking cancel female sport and male sport, and just have men and women play in the same competition how about that?

What a joke. Let's see how is that gonna end up.

So if I am understanding correctly, we have to use the term "birthing person" and "person with uterus" to be inclusive of trans men, because they are biologically different than cis men who obviously do not have uteruses and cannot give birth...

But in sports we have to ignore biological differences because trans women are supposedly not any biologically different than cis women.

I want to be supportive but it just isn't making sense to me and seems incredibly unfair to cis women in sports.

So you’re going to answer the question or you’ll rather deflect with this irrelevant stuff?
