Sometimes your food will just sit there because no one wants to deliver an order with no tip. I also tip depending on the distance from my house. This makes no sense. 6ou have to pay for the delivery, right? Like the food is 20$ plus 7.89$ for delivery. Why the heck would u still tip?

The driver is doing YOU a huge favor doing the driving for YOU so you can eat at a convenience. I understand everyone isn’t rich but you don’t get to use the platform then not tip. It’s disgusting. If you can’t afford to tip well/correctly then stop being lazy & go get the food yourself. For some people this is a force living under unfortunate circumstances & you wouldn’t want someone doing that to you or a love one in a desperate attempt of making Living. Imagine not tipping the person who used their gas to bring you food because you were lazy. 1$??? Joke!!!! The app should tell the drivers BEFORE picking up the food on how much the person tips so they can decide if they want to do it! This is ******* stupid. His ONLY JOB is to deliver things. He's hired for that. The evil is not the customer, who can also be struggling (and yes, you can be struggling and ask for takeout), but the company and work laws
Badgalbriel Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Americans are truly all brainwashed to think their stupid ways are the correct way of doing things
CrimsonX Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 (edited) I always tip around 20%. It’s not a good look when you don’t tip. You just look cheap or uneducated on tipping culture. I worked in a restaurant before and people already expect minorities not to tip, so I always do for the most part. If it’s too much for you to tip then you’re probably better off buying groceries that will last you longer tbh. I’m not tipping for pick up orders though. Edited March 21, 2023 by CrimsonX

Nah, tipping only incentives this behavior from companies.
SimpleKindofLife Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Tipping for pick up doesn’t make sense but it’s a little messed up if someone is unable to see nothing wrong with not tipping for having a service performed for you, it’s literally the same as tipping at a restaurant where you’re being served. Although, people are able to see the compensation they’ll be getting before accepting the order so if they accepted it, it means they were fine with the money including the lack of any tip

Delivery drivers/servers don’t get paid much and they choose to do the job, if I want to enjoy a luxury experience the least I could do is tip. They already don’t make much, it’s insulting and embarrassing.

Companies have the money to pay for their salaries.

This is literally not true, the companies aren’t gonna change their compensation methods because the laws need to change and they won’t because our politicians are genuinely selfish and you would know that if you were actually American. Yes, I agree that companies should be paying their workers instead of them having to rely on tips but food couriers are considered independent contractors and laws pertaining to that are a mess.

Which is why I would never work one of those jobs but there’s also places/cases where you can actually make a lot of money. I’ve heard story’s of servers making hundreds of dollars a day. It’s totally possible to make a living doing these jobs. I personally don’t like the uncertainty of it all. Not knowing how much money you’re going to make if any at all. WitnessOblivia Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 In my country, we don't tip at all. It's obviously different in other countries, and I think it's understandable why it might be perceived as rude in those countries.
Headlock Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 The amount of cheapskates in this thread, if you can't afford to tip, don't order out

TaggedGalaxy Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 I remember having a conversation with one my friends who was shocked that I don't tip for pick up. She said she always thought she had to and felt bad if she didn't. I will never tip if i'm driving or walking to pick up my own food, you don't get tipped to place my food on the counter for me grab
Sombre Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Employees shouldn't have to depend on tipping in the first place. 25% of your order as a tip is insane to me, because traditionally tipping is to show appreciation, not to cover the expenses of someone else's employee. Labor laws are kinda ****** in America huh.
ProudLBS Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 No, you already paid for the service but probably I’d tip if it was raining a lot or something. Yes, I’m a cheapskate, but a tip is to reward excellent service, not just any service.
Uncatena Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 American tipping culture is genuinely, truthfully one of the most insane things I have ever come across. same with services like DoorDash and GrubHub, their fees are INSANE. that being said, thats how it works and I agree that if you can't tip well, you shouldn't order take out.

I even tip on pick up orders because people are laboring hard to make the food and I’m sure it’s a mundane job for them. They’re people who are just trying to make ends meet with low wages. These types of jobs can also be bottom of the barrel for some people. If I have the means and can make someone’s day better by tipping, absolutely I would. Class!
Slayn Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 You shouldn’t have to and really shouldn’t period tip for a pick up order. They shouldn’t even ask.
